Hello everyone! First things first, I'm Kyubu the second administrator of this Lupin III Wiki. It's been almost one year since I first edited a page on this wiki and I continue to discover things! To resume, I saw that this wiki is very complete by the number of subjects written but it lacks an organization to fulfill its maximum potential. That's why I create this blog post to note all the things I've done and all the things I think I would like to implement to this wiki to have better navigation between all the pages. Of course, if you want to help on these topics go ahead! Any help is appreciated. Note that this blog post is from my point of view. Any suggestion or debate is open ^^"
- Lupin III (Music)
This page is called "The Music". It was and it is now my biggest project on this wiki. I've done almost all the pages for the Opening and Ending theme song for all the Lupin III media franchise. What I want to do now is:
- Connecting the Opening and Ending pages to their related Lupin III media (Series, OAV, Films, and TV Specials), which I already started with "The Castle of Cagliostro",
- Add for each Lupin III media a new section called "Music" where there will be a list of all album related to the corresponding media and of course a particular part for Opening and Ending theme song,
- Implement the insert song of certain Lupin III media,
- Complete the "Theme from Lupin III" page. Here, I would like to construct on the "Other" page a list of all primary variations of this theme because there are a lot... And in the same way, trying to explain the difference between all of them like I did for the '78, '79, and '80 version,
- Finish and complete the "List of Lupin III Albums" page. I've already made a Google Sheet which resumes (mostly) all of Lupin III Album that you can find here. The difficult part is retrieving all the front and back covers in a good state. A certain number of the albums are out of sales now and the only copy that we can have is on customer-to-customer websites (like Yahoo Auction, eBay, ...),
- Add sections on the navigation menu like Opening themes, Ending themes, ...
- Finally, I know there are songs produced by Yuji Ohno and compiled in Lupin the Third Jazz for example but these are not used in Lupin III video media so, for now, I'm not quite sure to add them to the wiki... We will see later for those.
- Renaming process
My second big project for this year (I guess) is to start a renaming process for a certain (big) number of pages on this wiki. Here is my thought: for the Series and Manga pages I will rename them in "{{SERIE_NAME}} Chapter/Episode {{CHAPTER/EPISODE_NUMBER}}". I've already started on the manga chapter pages. So, why?
- It will be more convenient to link chapter/episode pages on other pages on this wiki,
- In the same way, with this structure of the title page, it's easiest to create templates for the navigation of the wiki (which I will talk about it later), and make infobox very compact,
- We don't have to think about how to name pages that don't have a US translation. For example, the Tokyopop Edition of "Lupin III (manga)" is based on the 1989 Chuokoron-shinsha volumes that skipped ten chapters and mixed others. So how to name the pages that will talk about the ten skipped chapters? Japanese name? English translation name?
- Lupin III (Manga)
Thanks to Yawackhary, chapter pages have been created (for those which have a US translation). I think all three pages concerning the Lupin III Manga need a reworking. Here is the list of things to do:
- Transform the chapters page to follow the original released order made by Monkey Punch. Since publishers made their chapter order I think it's better to stick with the original order to maintain the continuity of series or mini-series inside the manga.
- Removing the "Chapters" sections to something more readable. wiki-table and tabber are very useful to organize things but (I think) it's better to use them for smalls topic like "Voice Actor" or "Lyrics". The problem is that on the mobile version of Wikia fandom tabber doesn't exist (or horribly implemented), so when you want to know the x chapters of "Action Comics" label for example is kind of messy.
- In the same way, create a "Series" or "Mini-series" section of the manga pages. In this section, there will be a short resume of all series of the Lupin III Manga which indicates the chapter and the volume (for each edition published),
- To continue this topic, I would like to create pages of all published volumes of the Lupin III manga series. This will replace the "Chapters" sections. I've already started with the Tokyopop and Power Comics edition. I have on my computer the cover page for Hyakuten Land Comics and Action Comics Edition just in case.
- And yeah if somebody is motivated, to do the synopsis and the long summary but we will see later for this one.
- Navigation on the wiki
Like I said earlier, I'm already trying to create templates that can be easily implemented and used for the navigation on this wiki. I've done a navigation template for the Music Section and Manga Volume section. Also, I modified a certain number of infoboxes to add more pertinent information and try to automatize them with pre-constructed templates. The future navigation template will be:
- Anime series episode. I don't know if making a separate one for Part II is efficient or not because there are 4 seasons in this particular series.
- Manga chapters. Very complicated one because the order of chapters is messed up since publishers made their chapter order...
- Character series. Maybe divided by series (manga, anime, OAV, film, tv special), by seasons (for Part II), and by affiliation (Lupin Gang, Associate, Villains, ...)
- Little words for the end
Okay so these are a lot of things to do but I wanted to write them down to share what I want to add to this wiki to attract more people and/or help them in the Lupin III Universe. I don't know how many weeks or years that will take but until I lose my motivation to share the Lupin III with other I will continue to edit this wiki ^^
See you-
