History[]

Holmes III was a descendant of Sherlock Holmes and is considered to be one of the world's greatest detectives. In the past, he had met Lupin III. His characteristic is having his magnifying glass on him and looking at things with it.

He was invited by Gabriel XIII to the Hendenburg along with Philip Archer, Kosuke Kindani and Koichi Zenigata to protect the Dracula's Tear from being taken by Lupin. When he arrived in Germany and got out of his car, he got out his magnifying glass and looked at the steps leading to the blimp that he soon entered unaware that Archer had smashed the bumper of the car while getting there. As it lifted off the ground, he was looking out of the window with his magnifying glass.

While smoking his pipe, he was explaining to Kindani about a theory from Freud that humans wanting to fly is related to a sexual complex. Kindani was stressed out shaking his hair with dandruff coming out. He explained that he wanders through the forests in the deep mountains and feels insecure when he doesn't see the ground from his sandals. Zenigata shouted at them as well as Archer as he considers them worthless.

Holmes along with the others had arrived at the dining room and he inspected a fork while saying that it is fairly pricey as the diamonds on the handle are roughly 15 carats. They looked at each other then around the room as they heard a voice. He along with Kindani noticed that it came from the deer head on the wall and Archer shot it to reveal a speaker that Zenigata caught. Soon they looked behind the curtain and lifting up was Gabriel and his assistant.

Gabriel moved to the table and Holmes observed his introduction as well as complaints from Zenigata and Archer. After the Earl promising that Lupin would show up, he smoked his pipe and hoped that he would turn up since he claimed that it was some time in the past that he saw Lupin. As Zenigata looks for the Dracula's Tear, Holmes gives advice that the gem is in plain sight and Kindani found the gem since it is hidden in Gabriel's eye, covered up by a monocle.

While Gabriel is explaining that after midnight that the gem cannot be removed, Holmes deduces that Lupin has to come before midnight. While waiting for the deadline, he plays with his violin however Archer tapped with his bottle since he finds it boring and then falls down from his chair. He stopped playing when Zenigata noticed some lanterns outside saying "Lupin the Third is here" and advised Gabriel to return to his room as it is dangerous.

It had reach 11:45pm and he along with the others sat down in the study. Gabriel put a helmet on his head and Holmes saying that it would be a miracle for Lupin to steal the gem. As the time was ticking down, he was grumpy waiting until midnight where the lights went out.

He witness that after the light was switched on that Gabriel had his helmet removed, the gem and his eye missing and appeared to be dead. Zenigata panicked and Holmes thought that one of the suspects was the one who committed the theft and the murder. He lit his pipe and claimed from experience that one of the most unexpected people had done it. As Archer claimed that Zenigata was involved, Holmes had noticed no blood on the body and put some jam on his finger that Zenigata licked. Holmes gasped as it turned out that Gabriel was a dummy.

Coming up from the floor, Gabriel shows them a surveillance video that Holmes had smashed the monocle while Kindani used the Zantetsuken then used the hammer to knock the gem out of his head. It turned out that it was Lupin in disguise.

Later on it is revealed that Lupin, Daisuke Jigen and Goemon Ishikawa XIII had tied up the detectives while doing the heist and shoved them in the control room. One of them had punched Holmes as he had a bruised eye and they were untied as they put their clothes back on. FBI agents had come into the landed blimp in Greenland and arrested Holmes claiming that it was Lupin in disguise unaware that Lupin, Jigen and Goemon had tied them up. In the police van, the FBI agent who arrested Holmes was Lupin has he removed his disguise and removed the cuffs. Holmes asked whether it was what Lupin wanted and he thanked them, then Holmes says that it would have damaged their reputation as they were asleep.
