Sherlock Holmes is a character from Lupin the 3rd Part 6.

Appearance

Holmes wears a dark gray jacket with light gray trousers. His hair is scruffy, also having facial hair such as a beard and a light mustache. He appears to have shaved off the beard since Episode 7.

History

Holmes was considered to be the greatest "consulting detective" in the world and resides in 221B Baker Street. Lily also lives with him.

He used to tackle all kinds of big cases until an incident occurred regarding Lupin III and the death of his assistant John Watson, wherein he subsequently retired and has only worked on small cases such as finding pets and investigating cheating partners. He also simultaneously acts as some sort of guardian for Lily.

When Lupin III returns to London, Holmes is alerted by his appearance, remembering the oath Lupin took a long time ago to never appear in front of Lily again. He takes it to himself to finally confront him once and for all, while also remaining highly concerned that Lily's memories will eventually come back to her.

Notes

• On the character page on the official Part 6 website, it only lists his surname while his first name is from other sources. The filename also lists his name as homes in English.
• Outside of Lupin III, Arsène Lupin himself had also fought with the original Sherlock Holmes in Maurice Leblanc's original novels, but Holmes had to be renamed "Herlock Sholmes" to avoid legal conflict from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Holmes' creator.
  • In a twist of fate, Lupin III also underwent numerous name changes internationally to avoid legal conflict with Maurice Leblanc's estate, mirroring the above event.
  • It is also worth mentioning that Inspector Koichi Zenigata's ancestor, Heiji Zenigata, was created in 1931 by Kodō Nomura as the Japanese answer to Holmes.
• It is currently unknown if whether or not this Sherlock Holmes is related to both Sherlock Holmes III from Part 2 Episode 15 or Holmes III from Part 2 Episode 97.
