Salmon Whitney is a character of Lupin the 3rd Part 2.

History[]

Salmon is a famous gourmet and an expert in mice who also claims to be an owner of a diamond company but is really a diamond smuggler. To smuggle his diamonds, he had engineered mechanical fish as well as having various machines in his mansion in Canada. He is also a greedy person who is also mostly seen sitting down. For fashion, he has four gold rings on his right hand with three of them having large pearls on them.

As Fujiko Mine wrote in a letter to Lupin III explaining who he was, she was having a meal with Salmon in a restaurant.

In Paris, he organized an auction with one of the prizes being the White Moon diamond. It was won by Madame de Buss however she collapsed when she received a note from "Lupin" saying that he will steal the diamond at 11 PM. He sat down in a sinister fashion since Fujiko had arranged to write the note. Afterwards Salmon had arranged for Fujiko to take a trip to Canada saying that he was a diamond seller.

Before he went to Canada, he trained his mice to steal from Madame de Buss's mansion as they sneaked into the safe to steal the diamonds. As they escaped from the sewer, Lupin and Daisuke Jigen saw the mice throw the diamonds towards a fish. They also prepared a timed explosive causing Koichi Zenigata to fall down and the mice to be seriously hurt.

In his mansion in Canada, Fujiko was swimming in the indoor pool and she went towards the edge. He asked her while his butler was there for lunch and she agreed. The butler served fish that made Salmon smile and Fujiko was impressed, he tells her if you want to be a gourmet, Canada is the best place to learn and claims anything tastes delicious. Fujiko suggests why there and not further south, he says that even though the fish and the wine are the same, it has a different taste as Fujiko poured him a glass of wine. His reason for the taste was the snow and causes an appetite as he pointed to himself knowing that was how he learnt to be a gourmet, she says that it is a good story. They did a toast and he drank the wine. As he was chowing down his food, Fujiko just stared at him then looked away in disgust.

Lupin and Jigen followed the fish to Canada then Lupin cast his rod to plant a tracker inside of the fish however instead of catching it, the fish decided to swam faster and then lost the fish as the rod broke and ended up destroying their boat. The fish then went towards Salmon's mansion and into a special pond. Salmon and Fujiko went to the pond claiming to be his factory, with a press of a button on the machine the fish was placed on a tray covered with glass. The tray moved closer and a knife sliced through the fish to reveal that it was full of diamonds, Fujiko was shocked as he claims not to lose things as anything that goes comes back to him as the diamonds poured out and he put it into a bag. He then asked Fujiko for her opinion and she found it great, as he thanked her Salmon put the bag into his jacket.

Salmon was telling Fujiko his secret and with a devious look pointing his gun at her, he tells her that she is the person that Lupin trusts. He then shot at the mechanical fish and dragged Fujiko away as Lupin and Jigen got into the pond. Knowing that Lupin was coming, he planted a strip on one of the doors to get Lupin's fingerprint and got sucked down a hole. As Lupin and Jigen entered the domed room, he tied Fujiko up on a rope from the ceiling. After Lupin saved Fujiko, he came up sat on a chair in a glass dome eating his meal. He welcomed Lupin while he claimed that Salmon's plan to be perfect that the most famous mice expert was a thief. Being greedy, he says that he wouldn't be tasting good food if he just done that while eating. He says that a few years ago he used the fish to diamond smuggle because he believed that Lupin had stolen most of the diamonds in the world, he also says that his animals were not as successful as him as they waste time. He scoffed more of his meal and replying to Lupin's question that he will die today while showing his knife. Lupin wondered whether it would happen while Salmon wondered whether he would escape. He then went down while finishing his meal and as he was going down the tube, he laughed.

Instead of finishing his meal, he got up from his chair and walked towards a machine to press a button. A screen came up with Lupin, Jigen and Fujiko, he then sat down on a red chair and pressed the other button to activate a gravity field around the diamonds that then launched hitting around the dome. As Goemon Ishikawa XIII used his Zantetsuken to slice a part of the wall, Salmon pressed more buttons activating the explosives around the mansion and Lupin called him a "sleazy bastard" as they escaped. The rest of the mansion exploded and the Lupin gang drove off however the ejector seats were activated for Lupin and Fujiko, Jigen and Goemon also jumped off since the vehicle exploded.

Fujiko managed to come back to his underground base through a tube as he was filing his fingernails, he asked for her opinion as he knows everything comes back to him and she thought that he was more irritating than she imagined. Salmon asked her to work for him, but with no answer he finished filing and got out a strip with Lupin's fingerprint saying that it would send him to his grave. He put the fingerprint into the machine thinking that Lupin would not know then pressed a button to activate the screen. Lupin crash landed on a pile of snow shivering and Salmon launched a giant snowball out of a cannon that targeted Lupin as it followed him. He laughed while filing his fingernails again.

As the snowball crashed into a wall, Fujiko screamed and Salmon laughed thinking that it was the end of Lupin. They then went to the place where Lupin "died" and Fujiko gently cried. Smoking his cigar, he decided it was where Lupin died that annoyed Fujiko. Salmon then asked her whether she wanted to die there as well, Fujiko shouted back that Lupin might have a monkey face but he is 100 times better than him. She then insulted him calling him fat and a pig that annoyed Salmon. Lupin using his Walther P38 shot Salmon's cigar and flew towards the ground, she turned around to see Lupin alive with Jigen and Goemon.

Salmon pointed at Lupin wondered how he escaped, Lupin then pointed towards a mouse on his shoulder. Lupin explained that he escaped via an underground tunnel since he saw a mouse coming up, he entered Salmon's lab just as him and Fujiko were about to leave. He managed to find a fingerprint of Salmon and put it into the machine. The snowball that targeted Lupin started to move onto Salmon as he told the "fatty" to run, he shouted for help but Fujiko just shouted encouragement instead. Lupin fired his gun up as Salmon was running around in a circle with the snowball behind him, Fujiko mentioned that he would be faster rolling than running and Lupin says that his names were just titles except that he is a pig. Both Lupin and Fujiko were saying "1, 2" as they were marching while he was running in a circle.

It is unknown what happened to Salmon afterwards.
