Sabu is a character of Lupin the 3rd Part 1.

History

Not much about Sabu is known apart from that he is a henchman who works with George Takigawa. From what little is shown, he seems to get annoyed and fires from his machine gun.

When Rie Makita was horse riding, he screamed as he was on the truck and as she jumped over, he was knocked down to the ground. He wanted to get her after she laughed at him but Subordinate C reminded him that she is a hostage.

After Rie was kidnapped, he along with George and another henchman fired with his shotgun at the Fiat 500 however Jigen shot one of the tires causing the truck to crash towards a field.

While in the helicopter, he along with his other partner fired with his machine gun at Zenigata and the police as George ordered them so the police wouldn't save Rie. Later on, he was dropped off from the helicopter onto a train that Lupin III and Rie were on with another henchman firing directly at Lupin causing Rie to scream thinking that he was dead. It turned out that Sabu only shot Lupin's jacket and asked Rie where he was otherwise he will shoot her. His partner reminded him that he will get a meal if he doesn't do anything rash. Sabu doesn't care as he didn't like her or her nagging, he also made a comment that was interrupted that Rie is the daughter of a safecracker and pretending to be a lady.

Lupin is alive and was right behind him on the train top so Sabu entered the train and went towards the edge of the carriage hoping to sandwich Lupin however he ended up facing his partner. While doing so, Lupin unlocked the carriage and they ended up going the other way from the train.

Back in the helicopter, he along with George and the other henchmen found Lupin and Rie, he directly fired his machine gun at them. Lupin using a catapult fired a tree at the helicopter causing it to lose control and crashed. He survived hanging on a tree branch.

Notes

• Sabu is the only henchman that was given a name, his other two partners are nameless and just called subordinates. The only time that it was mentioned was when Subordinate C talks to him on the train. Due to the obscurity of the character, the only source of the character comes from a transcript. When translated sabu means substitute.
• While in the script Sabu is Subordinate A, in the Japanese Netflix subtitles his character name is listed as Subordinate B.
