Myths[]
Richard Epcar was the voice of Goemon in the Manga/Animaze dub of The Castle of Cagliostro.
In reality, the role was played uncredited by Michael Gregory. This error stemmed from Richard Epcar's VO resume [1] meaning that he might have originally be considered for the role but was given to Michael.
Notes[]
- Richard Epcar was not the first choice for Jigen however since the dubbing company behind Part 2 was unable to find a suitable actor, they gave him a shot and became the voice.
- Originally he was not happy how Pioneer wanted to change the dialogue of the Part 2 dub. He then understood the angle that they were going for at the time to get it onto Adult Swim. After The Mystery of Mamo dub and Geneon were no longer in charge, the dialogue had become more faithful in later dubs.
- He is one of the few voice actors outside of Japan who had met Monkey Punch, they are both fans of James Bond.
- Richard runs Epcar Entertainment that was involved with the English dubs of Parts 4 and 5, Legend of the Gold of Babylon and Blood Seal of the Eternal Mermaid, the latter two for Discotek while the former was with TMS. He was also the voice director.
- He is married to Ellyn Stern who also voice acts in the series and directed Parts 4, 5 and 6, as well as codirecting the dub of Part 1 with her husband.
