Translation Notes[]
Record of Observations of the East is the literal translation of the book commonly known as English as The Travels of Marco Polo.
Bao Long's name in Japanese translates as 包龍 (Pao Ryū). Both the Japanese original and the Italian dub uses the Chinese pronunciation of Bao Long in the audio.
Mistakes[]
- 13:28 - For one frame, Daisuke Jigen's mouth and beard are missing.
- On the Italian dub, Fujiko Mine had her surname spoken as mean rather than me-nay.
Notes[]
- The three women that are with Goemon are called Hiromi, Rumi and Ami. This is a nod to Cat's Eye an anime that TMS had also produced where the girls are called Hitomi, Rui and Ai.
- Lupin III calling himself Inspector Colonel and Daisuke Jigen Detective Sanders is a reference to Colonel Sanders who founded KFC. The irony was that at the time of the TV Special, there were no KFC restaurants in Italy however the reference was retained in the Italian dub.
- The Secretary-General of Interpol uses the same character design as the Commissioner from Lupin the 3rd Part 1.
- Ironically, despite Ichirō Nagai (who voiced the Commissioner in Part 1) was in this special, he instead played Musashibō Benkei the 22nd, with him being replaced by Daichi Sakamoto.
