Professor Hunter is a character of Lupin the 3rd Part 2.
History[]
Professor Hunter is a criminal psychologist who studies the strengths and weaknesses of thieves. He is a collector having vases and antiques however according to Fujiko Mine, his collection is not worth much. Outside of being a collector, he also plays chess with a robotic arm.
Throughout his plane where he lives located in Hawaii, he invented a security system using a computer that saves the data from criminals. They ranged from a labyrinth that can change the layout of the corridors to a safe that only Professor Hunter himself with his fingerprints can open. The safe is drill proof, laser proof and repairs itself if damaged by heavy explosives. If anyone touches the items on display inside the safe, the alarms will go off and will get electrocuted. Only Professor Hunter's hand recognition can disable the alarm.
While showing Koichi Zenigata his collection, Zenigata steals one of his ancestors coins behind his back however feels guilty and wants Lupin to return the coin.
According to Daisuke Jigen as the Lupin gang and Zenigata discuss the plan of Professor Hunter's plane, many high profile thieves had attempted to break the safe but none succeeded. Due to the difficulty of breaking into the safe, only Lupin and Zenigata attempted the challenge. First they tried to disguise themselves however it can recognize the height, weight and walking style of a person as the computer recognized that it was Lupin. Professor Hunter reckons that it is his last day.
Lupin managed to find loopholes in his security system. First he gets to ride on Zenigata due to that the computer has no information on the inspector, the computer detect this behavior as unusual but Professor Hunter gloats that he won't beat the computer.
As Lupin plays chess with the robotic arm, Professor Hunter claims that his brain is smarter than the computer as he always wins chess. The plane is getting closer to the prison. Then Lupin reminds Professor Hunter that humans have emotions as he is holding a coin that once belong to Heiji Zenigata. Seeing the coin out of the safe, he rushes towards the coin collection and Lupin entered the safe. He checked the coin and a replacement was there but was confused by the coin. Professor Hunter wondered why and thought that it was a miscalculation however Lupin reminds him that he was the one that made the mistake and pointed his Walther P38 at him.
While gloating that only he can fly the plane, it turned out that Jigen, Goemon and Fujiko were the pilots. Lupin then ties Professor Hunter up with his cape but was unable to be free as the Lupin gang steal his collection.
He reappeared in Lupin the Third Part 5, posting on PeopleLog that the headquarters of the company is in a tax haven for the Republic of Maul. Notably he uses a golden mobile to post his message.
