Release[]

Before the TV Special got announced, Yuji Ohno teased a new soundtrack with Shigeru Matsuzaki contributing [3]. This caused rumors of an untitled TV Special by the end of the year. On October 12th, information was revealed that the soundtrack was called Prison of the Past as the cover and tracklist appeared on Amazon Japan. A few days later on October 17, it was officially announced.

Japan[]

  • DVD February 19, 2020 (VPBY-14898, VAP)
  • Blu-ray February 19, 2020 (VPXY-71791, VAP)

USA[]

  • Blu-ray July 2022 (Discotek Media) [English Dub, Japanese with English subtitles]

Notes[]

  • The project started when Monkey Punch was still alive and read the script that Kōji Nozaki gave him.[4] This was the most that he was involved with the TV Special due to his passing.
  • The English dub and subtitles was funded by J-LOD who is connected to the Japanese government and involved with exporting Japanese content overseas. The dub was created as TMS Entertainment USA wanted to expand the popularity of Lupin the 3rd in the US. According to the case study, this either happened or was granted in October 2020.[5]
