Philip Archer is a character from Lupin the 3rd Part 2.
History[]
Archer is an American private eye who likes going into bars drinking whisky or scotch and is attracted to women especially if they are blonde.
He was invited by Gabriel XIII to the Hendenburg along with Sherlock Holmes III, Kosuke Kindani, and Koichi Zenigata to protect the Dracula's Tear from being taken by Lupin III. When he arrived in Germany, he drove erratically to the airport and bid farewell to one of his many loves.
He was then abducted by Daisuke Jigen, who disguised himself as him.
After Lupin steals Dracula's Tear and lands the Hindenburg 2, the gang unties him and the other detectives.

- The character is based on the American private eye Philip Marlowe in terms of them drinking a large amount of whiskey and brandy as well as women.
- The character is also inspired by Sam Diamond from the movie Murder by Death, who is played by the late Peter Falk, and is characterized in the movie as an alcohol, gun and blonde women loving man, who works as a American private detective. (The movie in question also inspired the episode itself.)
