"Copy Humans are Expensive" is the 9th episode of Lupin the 3rd Part III.
Synopsis[]
Lupin has a horrible case of athlete’s foot and visits Dr. Budweiser, who is also a cloning expert, for treatment. The doctor takes a sample of Lupin’s skin under the guise of treating his Athlete’s foot, but the doctor has another plan up his sleeve.

Translation Notes[]
The original Japanese title says Copy Humans (コピー人間, kopī ningen) with ningen can be also translated as person or man rather than Clone (クロン, kuron). TMS, Crunchyroll and the second Italian dub decided to use clone/cloning to make it easier to understand in English.
Censorship[]
Italian[]
(Note: Since this was compared with the Italian DVDs, the TV airings might be more censored.) There were a few scenes that were cut in the MITO Italian dub and also received short cuts where on the DVDs it switches between Italian to Japanese and back to Italian within a scene:
- The opening scene where Badwalser removes skin from Lupin and showing the skin on the tweezers was cut.
- As soon as Lupin is shown to be disappointed, Yasuo Yamada's Lupin whelp is heard as Badwalser rotates his chair to face him.
- Where Lupin is shown to be itchy for the first time, Yasuo Yamada's voice is heard for a second.
- When Lupin leaves the room after Badwalser gives him the lotion.
- When Fujiko goes into her handbag to get her bug out.
- When Lupin fell off the sun lounger as he was attracted to Fujiko.
Differences Between Manga & Anime[]
- It is a faithful adaptation of the manga chapter. The scene where Lupin tries to open the safe and tricks the boss to get the clone sample while Zenigata is waiting by the hallway was adapted, a majority of the chapter matches with the episode including when Zenigata storms in dressed as a knight.
- The main differences are:
- The doctor and the crime boss were merged into Badwalser so the conversation between the doctor and Zenigata was dropped.
- The doctor got the sample of Lupin from his foot rather than his saliva and Fujiko does not appear in the scene.
- In the anime, Zenigata left Badwalser trapped in the vault. It was unknown what happened to the crime boss or the doctor in the manga.
- Zenigata's thought process was swapped around so he escaped from the roof rather than the underground tunnel however it turned out to be that Lupin escaped from the roof in both.
- Lupin escaped via a balloon in the episode rather than climbing on a rope.
- The English TokyoPop translation also matches a majority of the dialogue with the episode with the only part that did not was when Zenigata was talking to the doctor.

- The safe makes the same sound when activated as Mamo's brain probe in 'The Mystery of Mamo'.
