"Our Papa is a Thief" is the 44th episode of Lupin the 3rd Part III.
Synopsis[]
Once a year, jewelers from around the country descend on New York City for a jewelry tradeshow, bringing with them their entire inventory. Combined, the jewelry is said to be worth 20 million dollars. Lupin and his gang plan to steal the whole lot, but things go awry when some children claim Lupin is their father. Jigen and Goemon find it hugely amusing, but they soon find themselves stuck in the same mess. Will the gang be able to juggle fatherhood and their thieving careers?

Censorship[]
The Italian dub omits the scene of Fujiko lying on a bed in a towel.
Translation Notes[]
In the Japanese original, from 13:57 to 14:02 both Koichi Zenigata and Lupin III make an exchange in English. Zenigata says, "Good morning, everybody" while Lupin replies, "Wow! How are you, Mr Tottsan?". In the English Crunchyroll translation, tottsan was changed to "Pops" as it is Zenigata's official English nickname despite the audio saying tottsan. The fan translation also used Pops despite not accurately translating the English voiceover with Lupin saying "Hello, Mr Pops" and an earlier fan translation based on a Chinese translation saying "Good morning everyone" and "Mr Pops, Why are you?"[1]. The lines were completely rewritten in the Italian MITO Film dub and Zenigata's line was reused in the CDR dub.
Lupin also says "Morning" in English, translated as "Good morning" in English Crunchyroll translation.
5:56 - In the Japanese original, Lupin calls Mark Mark-chan.
The Italian dub changes Goemon's line about how if he were in Japan he'd be embarrassed if anyone he knew saw him in a construction worker's outfit. For time, it also removes the line of him saying he's going to take a nap after the digging work is finished.
The Italian dub omits Lupin's scream of pain over the phone from one of the children attacking him.
Notes[]
- In this episode, Koichi Zenigata cries about how he wants a wife and kids, but he can't because the only thing he's married to is his job. He complained about the same thing in Part III Episode 32.
- Detective Callahan is named after Harry Callahan from Dirty Harry.
- Rika Fukami, the voice of Lupin's alleged son Mark, would later voice his alleged mother Tomoe
