"The Target is at the End of the Snow" is the 35th episode of Lupin the 3rd Part III.

Synopsis[]

Lupin and his gang blow up Fontaubert Bank’s underground safe to steal 5 tons worth of gold, but someone has beat them to it. The thieves are a pair of disguise artists named John and Mary. While searching for the pair, Lupin is captured by Inspector Zenigata. The two seek shelter from the snowstorm in an elderly couple’s mountain cabin, but soon a flood of unwanted visitors come barging in. Will Lupin find the missing gold and will his plot roll out as planned?

Translation Notes[]

In the title 白銀 (hakugin) usually translates as silver however it also means snow that given the context of the episode being set in a ski resort, snow would have been used. It is a word that compares the snow that has fallen. The usual Japanese word for snow is 雪 (yuki).

Notes[]

  • On the Japanese VHS, DVD and Blu-ray releases, this is the first episode to use Opening 2 that was done by Yuzo Aoki. For the original version and the remastered version that was used on UTB Hollywood and Crunchyroll, Part III Episode 27 was the episode that used the opening.
  • The episode was adapted from the chapter A House Divided.
