"A Ghost in New York" is the 26th episode of Lupin the 3rd Part III.
Synopsis[]
Lupin and his gang are in New York City to steal a pinball machine made of solid gold. Lupin, Jigen and Fujiko board a casino cruise ship and discover that they’ll need Goemon’s Zantetsuken sword to pull off the heist. Meanwhile, Goemon is out fishing on the banks of the Hudson River when he reels in a human skeleton. Suddenly, Goemon finds himself haunted by a young beautiful ghost named Lily. Will Goemon’s ghostly admirer help or hinder the heist?

Translation Notes[]
In the English subtitles used on Crunchyroll, Zantetsuken is either "Goemon's sword" or just "sword" despite Goemon, Lupin and Lily calling out the name in the Japanese original.
In the Japanese original, Lily called Goemon "Ōji-sama". This was either translated as sir, dear, or the title was dropped and instead calling him Goemon in the English Crunchyroll translation. When Lily takes a bath in Goemon's room, she tells him she fell in love with "Goemon-Ōjisama", whereby the translation adds that she really loves older men. Because how Crunchyroll dealt with the term, it also means that the jokes where Goemon gets upset at being addressed as "Ōji-sama" (implying he's middle aged) are lost.
The prayer chant that Goemon had made was not translated in the English Crunchyroll translation.
Mistakes[]
- The golden pinball machine is called GOLD RASH throughout the episode while it should be Gold Rush. This is due to the l/r problem.
