The Woman Pops Fell in Love With is the 69th episode of Lupin the 3rd Part 2.
Synopsis[]
Political fixer Pomade Jaws trusts no one, not even his wife Laura. He's stored the scandalous secrets of various world leaders inside a voice-activated safe. The key to opening the safe is Laura's voice, but the distrustful Pomade has implanted a miniature bomb inside her heart that will detonate if she opens the safe without him present. Mafia boss Al Cabane wants the scandalous data, so he kills Pomade and goes after Laura. A desperate Laura finds Inspector Zenigata and the two flee together. A love blossoms between them, but is it meant to be?!

Mistakes[]
When Zenigata goes to the edge of the cliff, his jacket is its normal color. Then when he declares that, despite the fact that he thinks Lupin is dead, he doesn't need him anyway and declares his love for Laura, his jacket becomes the color of his coat, which he had left wrapped around Laura.
When Zenigata and Laura escape the hotel, he's in a bathrobe and she's in a trenchcoat. But when they arrive at Lupin's hideout, he's in his regular garb and she's in different clothes with no explanation.
When Lupin plays the tape in his Fujiko disguise, he's standing right next to the safe. When Cabane stops the tape, Lupin is standing a few yards away.
Cabane's henchman ogle Lupin-as-Fujiko even though the safe is blocking their view of him.
Censorship[]
Italian[]
While it is unknown whether the original airing had these scenes, there is a missing scene in the Italian dub. These were cut in not just the TV airings but also VHS and DVD releases. It is unknown whether it is lost due to the cut or were never dubbed.
- From 8:15 to 8:23, Jigen's reaction of the death of Pomade Jaws and his thoughts was cut. The missing lines are:
| Jigen: Ah, that's horrible! If she is caught and forced to speak in front of the safe, she will blow up for sure. Right? |
In the Italian Blu-ray, this scene was restored using what appears to be using the dub script however since the voice actors passed away, an unknown voice actor voiced the missing lines doing an impression of Jigen with a difference in audio quality and the voice is notably different. This means that it is one of the few times that Sandro Pellegrini doesn't voice Jigen in Part 2 in Italian.
Translation Notes[]
In the Japanese original, Zenigata politely calls Laura "Ma'am" almost all the way through. In the English dub, he calls her "Laura".
The Italian dub, the Spanish Telecinco dub and the Valencian dub, the title used inspector rather than the given nickname for Zenigata (Zazà, Papi). It is unknown whether the Valencian dub had a nickname other than Papaíto.
In the English dub, Lupin offers an extra comment about Jaws as he holds the extra bomb in front of Laura.
In the English dub, when Cabane's men are leering at Lupin, thinking he's Fujiko, Cabane yells "Shaddap!" In the original version, he simply glares.
Notes[]
- Yuzo Aoki takes over from Sadahiko Sakamaki in terms of the key animation from when Zenigata and Laura climb up a hill to the end of the episode. The animation style changes from having the standard style to his loose, cartoony style with Al Cabane and his henchmen are drawn differently and abstractly. Cabane was drawn with large teeth and his eyes more covered up compared to earlier in the episode, his close ups also shows a scruffy beard. Jigen and Goemon are also off model.
- At 6:34 into the episode, the track "I Am Immortal" from The Mystery of Mamo can be heard as Zenigata describes Laura's implant.
- In the scene where Zenigata declares his love for Laura, he adds to himself, "Just kidding". Lupin had that on his gravestone in Part 2 Episode 32.
- When Lupin-as-Fujiko complains to himself about Cabane, he's wearing the same open-toed sandals Fujiko was wearing when he abducted her. But when he gets to his feet off the sofa, he's wearing short boots with heels. This is an animation error, though it's entirely viable that he changed his footwear overnight the moment he saw his own hairy feet.
