Censorship[]

English / Spanish[]

The English and the Spanish Animax dub had a few music replacements:

  • A different jingle plays between 4:38-4:42 compared to the Japanese original and the Italian dub where it plays the Goemon jingle.
  • 9:35-9:43 - "Wanted" by Pink Lady was replaced by Day By Day due to copyright reasons. The next song was also replaced by Day by Day.

It is unknown whether the Spanish Telecinco dub had changed the music.

Mistakes[]

  • At 16:37, when Jigen and Goemon are opening the back of the van to retrieve the 3D projector, Jigen can be seen with zantetsuken attached to his left hip. This error was likely made because the two of them, wearing the same uniform, look similar from behind. However, this error is later corrected when Jigen and Goemon pull Kecchi out of the room where Lupin, disguised as Zenigata, is pretending to shoot at the hologram of himself.
  • In the Italian dub due to a mastering error, the music and sound effects track was played twice in the episode in the first part. The first time it is played at a lower volume between two to three seconds earlier then at its correct place at full volume however this error is fixed by the second part of the episode. This also means that it is one of the few times that the eyecatch music is heard due to removing the eyecatches in the Italian dub TV airings (later restored on DVD and Blu-ray releases).

Notes[]

  • The newspaper clippings of the Wanted picture mentions the Japan Socialist Party wanting Ota for governorship, Romania Against the Warsaw Pact, Vasily Garbuzov planning a budget and the appointment of Jean François-Poncet for French Minister of Foreign Affairs. While the English newspaper is unknown, for the latter piece of news it would date it around November 29, 1978.
  • The theremin music that plays at 8:05-8:50 and later at 13:26-13:40 was previously used in The Mystery of Mamo, most notably in scenes involving Mamo, including the immolation of his body during the climax. It should be noted that this episode aired two days after the film's original Japanese release on December 16th, 1978.
  • Don Kecchi's swim in his money is a reference to Scrooge McDuck's favorite pastime regarding his money found in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories. Kecchi's outfit even resembles Scrooge's from those same comics. Ironically, Kecchi has more in common with either one of Scrooge's two rivals, John D. Rockerduck or Flintheart Glomgold, in terms of ethics and morals.
    • Despite this, Kecchi compares himself to Ebeneezer Scrooge from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
