Lupin III Wiki

Is the Leaning Tower of Pisa Standing? is the 6th episode of Lupin the 3rd Part 2.

Synopsis[]

A mad scientist comes along and demands that the Italian government pay him a ransom if they don't want the Leaning Tower of Pisa destroyed by an earthquake. He has a device for generating artificial earthquakes that he plans to use. The government meets his demands, but Lupin has it in mind to take the money for himself. Zenigata chases Lupin into the enemy's lair, and, thinking that the Italian government defied his orders, the criminal hits the switch that activates the machine. Lupin tampers with the machine, however, and it explodes.

Title Card
This was also used as the cover of Lupin by Castellina Pasi.

Translation Notes[]

  • In the Japanese original, Zenigata only has a line or two as he rides the dolphin. In the English dub, he shouts "Stop, I'm serious!", "I'll get you for this, Lupi-!" and "How do you turn this thing off?"

Mistakes[]

  • Due to the l/r problem in Japanese, Italia is spelt as Itaria on the map.

Notes[]

  • When the Leaning Tower is shown straight, in the Japanese original Lupin breaks the fourth wall. In the English dub however this line was rewritten to no longer do so
  • The title was a play on The Leaning Tower Of Pisa and shaking since this episode features an earthquake.
