Translation Notes[]

In the English dub, Lupin sings "99 bottles of beer on the wall" while in the Japanese original and the Italian dub he sings a gibberish song.

Notes[]

  • The episode is set in the Taito Ward in Tokyo, mainly around the Ueno district. Hanshichi steps outside Ueno station and chases a thief towards Ueno Park by a statue of Saigō Takamori. Lupin heads towards Ameya-yokochō, an open market.
  • The character designs of the Chief and the Police Officer strongly resemble Lupin. The Chief looks like Lupin wearing glasses and the Police Officer looks like a younger Lupin that saved Hanshichi.
  • On the rooftop, Hanshichi and Koichi Zenigata appear as their ancestors wearing Edo era clothing. Koichi Zenigata had become Heiji Zenigata.
  • The episode is rated 47th according to the staff at TMS.
  • Terrence Stone emulates Tony Oliver as the chief's subordinate, since he closely resembles Lupin, but with more ghoulish features.[1]
  • Lupin refers to Hanshichi as "Gramps" in the English dub, one of the many nicknames he refered to Zenigata as prior to the nickname of "Pops".
