Lupin III Wiki

I'll Teach You How to Transport Gold Bars is the 5th episode of Lupin the 3rd Part 2.

Synopsis[]

Fujiko and a mystery man come bringing a request that Lupin steal a mountain of gold bullion from the Swiss Bank, which is renowned throughout the world for the strength of its security. After stealing the gold, Lupin and the gang melt it down and mold it to look like the body of a truck. They then paint the gold cast and replace an old truck body with it. After Lupin and the others get the car past the cops, Fujiko and the mysterious man betray Lupin and take the gold for themselves.

Mistakes[]

  • 4:42 - In the Japanese original the doorman talks without moving his mouth. This was fixed in the Italian dub.
  • When Lupin is grumbling about painting the van at the warehouse, Fujiko's hair was brown instead of blonde. Normally the other way around would be true except Fujiko was meant to change her hair back after the heist.
  • Relating to Fujiko, her hair style changes throughout the episode as in when it gets to the warehouse, it changes from her disguise and at the bank to her usual look in blonde (outside of the above mention).
  • 12:44-12:50 - In the original airing of the episode, Jigen and Goemon had their voices switched around while driving in the gold truck before the police inspection scene. This was fixed in the remastered version used in the Blu-ray release and current airings as the lip sync was edited. This caused a problem with the Italian dub since it was synced with the original sync meaning that Goemon's voice comes out of Jigen while Jigen's voice comes out of Goemon on the Blu-ray.
  • 18:04-18:10 - When Man in Wheelchair was sat down for the first time, his hair was gray instead of black. This unintentionally spoils a plotline later in the scene.
  • In real life, there is a lake by the west face of the Matterhorn, but there is no lakeside town, and most of the greenery is by the mountain's south side.

Censorship[]

English[]

During the Adult Swim broadcast, the scene where Zenigata points a gun at Lupin during the checkpoint inspection scene was cut. [2]

Translation Notes[]

At the start, in the English dub, Zenigata quips, "The little ones I throw back". This is because his mouth was moving but he wasn't saying anything. There is no dialogue in the original Japanese version.

Notes[]

  • The vehicle that was used to transport the gold is a Citroën H Van.
  • The eyecatch at the end of Part 1 is unique as it used the wrong sound cue. Instead of "Lupin the Third... aiie", it goes "Lupin the Third.... pop up sound". The sound cue is from the second eyecatch that had Lupin swivel his chair and moves his Walther P38 but then the sign falls down, this eyecatch was used from Episode 12. This applies to every known version of the episode that had the eyecatches.
  • This episode marks the first time that Fujiko would appear as being blonde rather than a brunette or a redhead. This would later appear in The Castle of Cagliostro, The Secret of Twilight Gemini, Walther P38, a brief appearance at the end of Episode 0: First Contact, and a few episodes of The Woman Called Fujiko Mine. This is likely a wig, like the black one she had in Part 1 Episode 7
