Translation Notes[]

The genre of music that Goemon listens to is Enka, and although the song was featured, "Enka" was not used, because Spanish and Italians wouldn't generally know it. The Italian dub used "tradizionale", the French dub called it the "Japanese variety" and was renamed in the Spanish dubs. In the English Geneon translation, it was simplified to Japanese blues while the Italian Blu-ray used Japanese ballads. Only the Japanese original and the English dub had used the term Enka.

In the Japanese original, the security guard that checks on the vault is nameless. In the English dub, he was given the name Larry while the Spanish Animax dub called him Johnny.

The English dub had changed the time on the self destruct message from 30 seconds to 5 seconds.

The message that Lupin left at the bank had changed in the English dub:

Japanese English
Lupin has paid a visit. I graciously took the Derby proceeds!! Don't blame yourselves, the vaults all mine.

Mistakes[]

  • The Metropolitan Bank is misspelled as METOROPOLITAN BANK throughout the episode. Metro is also misspelled as METORO.
  • The newspaper that the security guard was reading had various typos:
    • Namber instead of Number.
    • RisBon instead of Lisbon.
    • Portgal instead of Portugal.
    • Yesterday was written as yesteFdIy.
  • Lupin wheels a dollar bag that had a thick yellow dollar sign however when it goes to Jigen, the dollar sign had become thin and in black.
  • Lupin passes Jigen a dollar bag that had a thin dollar sign but when it got stuck on the wheel, it had returned to the thick yellow dollar sign design.

Censorship[]

  • In the original Japanese version, the Italian dub and the French dub, when changing the song in the car Goemon listens to Suki Ni Natta Hito (好きになった人) by Harumi Miyako [1]. In the English dub, this was altered to an instrumental track. This was due to copyright reasons as this also affected the Japanese voices on the Geneon DVDs and the French DVD release. The Spanish Animax dub that was done later restored the original song in the episode.

Notes[]

  • When Monkey Punch passed away and the news was given on the April 16, 2019, in Italy Mediaset dedicated this episode and Part 2 Episode 49 in his memory when it was aired on Italia 2.
  • Jigen mentions here that he's a fan of classical music. However, in Part 2 Episode 79 he finds classical music boring, and Lupin mentions that Jigen is more interested in ballads.
  • When Zenigata listens to the message that was on the Lupin puppet, a variation of the Mission Impossible theme plays. The message saying that the tape will self destruct is also a reference to Mission Impossible.
