Translation Notes[]

  • The Japanese original has a running reference of Inspector Zenigata being called a pervert. This was dropped in the English dub.
  • Due to translation, Lupin's disguise can be Miss Mary, Miss Marry or Miss Marie. The fandom has adopted the latter for the character.
  • The English dub gives more dialogue to Zenigata as Lupin evades him.

Censorship[]

French[]

  • The flashback in Chicago where Onabes killed a rival gangster and threw a grenade at the bank was cut.

Mistakes[]

When Lupin jumps down from the mast, his hair is the blond color of his wig, instead of his natural black hair.

Lupin has no need to wear a Miss Marie mask on his wedding day, since his disguise resembles his own face exactly.

In some shots, Lupin's eyebrows are blond like his wig, and in others they are dark like his hair.

Notes[]

  • The ship that the sailor claimed that Miss Marie was on is called Saint Yamato. This is a reference to the World War II Japanese battleship that was destroyed. It could also be a reference to Space Battleship Yamato that was popular at the time in Japan.
  • The episode is an homage to the 1959 comedy Some Like it Hot.
  • Lupin never officially divorces Onabes, meaning that he is still the shipping magnate's "wife".
