Translation Notes[]

In the original Japanese, Goemon's mouth moves while Lupin is talking to Jigen, but he doesn't say anything. The translators for the English dub noticed this an added a line for Goemon.

Goemon: But it's said that among his possessions was a sword, called Tsukikagemaru.

Lupin: I have no idea what that means, Jigen...

Goemon: I just explained that to you, it's a sword!

Lupin: ... But it sounds important to him, so whaddya say?

Notes[]

  • The episode is rated 46th according to the staff at TMS.[2]
  • Tsukikage means "Moon shadow" in Japanese.
  • In the original Japanese audio, Lupin declares the view from the hotel room a "masterpiece" and strikes a kabuki pose, echoing a famous line from Kinmon Gosan no Kiri, which is appropriately a play about the original Goemon Ishikawa.
  • The ending has Zenigata throwing coins at the wire Lupin and Goemon use to escape on, in the manner of his famous ancestor, the literary detective Heiji Zenigata, who was created by Kodō Nomura in 1931. Lupin makes note of this in the original Japanese audio.
  • Outside of Shinobu's disguise, Fujiko is absent in the episode.
