Translation Notes[]

The title has both Hato and Poppo that both mean pigeon. Poppo (ポッポ) is a baby talk word for pigeon that has no English translation, the closest would be something like birdy however it could also mean for a train like choo-choo. This was changed in the English Geneon translation to Blitz Dove Tactics and on the Discotek DVDs this was translated to Electric Pigeon Tactics.

The English dub adds dialogue over the film being played, of the Baron describing Lupin and Jigen falling, then floating down to earth and "bobbing just over the water like pixies". Fujiko also has a few extra lines when she pops the bubble she and Lupin are in and grows a new one for herself.

Mistakes[]

  • When it is revealed that Lupin has impersonated the Doctor, the real Doctor only speaks in muffled whines and grunts, implying that he's supposed to be gagged. However, although he is tied up, the animators neglected to draw a gag over his mouth, leaving it unexplained why he's unable to speak despite being fully conscious.

Notes[]

  • This episode was originally planned for Lupin the 3rd Part 1 however the script was not used due to the director change. It would have been Episode 21 but was replaced with Part 1 Episode 21.[1]
  • The English Geneon title is a reference to the song "Fly Me to the Moon" written by Bart Howard, the song was popularized by Frank Sinatra.
