Censorship[]
French[]
There were two cuts in the French dub. It is unknown whether these were cut during TV airings or were missed dubbed cues as they appear in Japanese on the French DVDs.
- When Alice asked why Lupin wasn't eating, Lupin replying "Well no... Somehow I'm not hungry..." (or "You've cut off my appetite" on the French DVD) was cut.
- When Zenigata and the New York police meet in front of the park where Alice and Lupin are hiding, a sentence from the inspector was kept in Japanese.[2]
Translation Notes[]
- In the English dub, when interrogated by the police Alice pretends Fujiko is her mother.
Notes[]
- This episode marks the beginning of the series' second opening and ending themes and animation sequences, vocal versions of the first opening and ending themes, which are the only vocal versions done for this series. Unlike the next episodes onwards, there are no sound effects when Lupin crashes into the window.
- This was also the last English dub episode of Lupin the 3rd Part 2 that aired on Cartoon Network in the US with future episodes as well as To Be or Nazi Be were originally DVD exclusive up to Episode 79.
- The English Geneon title references to both the 1939 film "The Little Princess" and "Prince of Darkness", a term used to describe evil that first appeared in the poem Paradise Lost.
- Alice taking a photo with Lupin outside a bank after a robbery was later done in Lupin the 3rd Part III Episode 3 where Lupin, Flora Hurst and the townspeople posed for a photo.
- The green elephants in the amusement park are inspired by Dumbo.
- The card soldiers that chase Zenigata are inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
