Aim for the Oildollar is the 17th episode of Lupin the 3rd Part 2.
Synopsis[]
A blackmail notice is delivered to a small Arab country threatening to destroy the oil fields if the country does not pay $100,000,000. Lupin and company set their sights on the payoff money, but according to intelligence agent Hassan, the enemy is apparently using human bombs. The gimmick is a remote-controlled capsule bomb implanted in the person's stomach. In fact, Hassan himself is the enemy leader, Lawrence III, the grandson of Lawrence of Arabia. Fujiko conspires with Lupin to trick Lawrence III into revealing his true identity to his league of loyal followers

Translation Notes[]
The English dub had Muhammad Hassan speak with an English accent and also making him British as during the meeting about the exploded oil fields, he says "Then if this was an accident, then I'm Queen Elizabeth". In the Japanese original and other dubs, he says that "This was no way that this was an accident".
In the English dub, Fujiko says "Poor Lupin" while he's shut himself in the bathroom.
In the English dub, Lupin made a reference to the TV show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and name dropping the original US host Regis Philbin.
In the English dub, Goemon remarks "Real mature" after Fujiko blows a raspberry at him.
Mistakes[]
The episode has lipsync issues in the Japanese original that were mostly fixed on the Italian and English dubs:
- 10:45-10:46 - Sheikh Ali is lipsyncing to nothing.
- 10:54-10:55 - Sheikh Ali is lipsyncing to Lupin's voice. The Italian dub had fixed this by moving his line forward overlapping with Lupin while the English dub had shortened Lupin's line instead.
- 11:01-11:02 - Sheikh Ali is lipsyncing to nothing.
- 11:26-11:28 - Lupin's mouth doesn't move. This was not fixed in the Italian dub however was fixed in the English dub by rewriting the previous line to "Drop your guns or he dies" and making the soldiers grumble instead of Lupin talking.
Notes[]
- This episode reference both Lawrence himself and the movie "Lawrence of Arabia".
- The original title Oildollar o Nerae is a reference to Ace o Nerae! (エースをねらえ!) known in English as Aim for the Ace! or Aim for the Best, TMS were also involved with later anime entries of the series. The Pioneer/Geneon title is a pun on the word shakedown.
- For unknown reasons on Japanese Amazon Prime, the episode was renamed to Aim for the Oil Rider.
