The Old Woman and Lupin Thievery Contest is the 128th episode of Lupin the 3rd Part 2.
Synopsis[]
There is a reward of $1,000,000 for Lupin's arrest. This in itself is not unusual, but when a newspaper reports of Lupin's crimes before they happen, something is definitely not right. The way Old Lady Dokonjo, who publishes a small newspaper all by herself, figures it, scoops are the only way to increase sales. Lupin and company fall for her tearful pleas, but her son, Benson, is a sinister character. It's a motorcycle showdown!!

- The bottle of Haiguu was edited to remove the writing and logos.
Italian[]
- In the TV airing, the bottle of Haiguu was replaced by a freeze frame and also the Japanese text saying Geyo was cut. This is because the Japanese masters were used instead of the later International masters that had this censorship done.
Mistakes[]
- Jigen and Goemon are shown to have pillows when Lupin barges into their room. But when it cuts to a group shot, the pillows are gone.
- Parts of Jigen and Goemon's bed frames are also not fully painted in when Lupin enters.
- The sign on the "Broadway Theater 2" says Bloadway.
- On the fictional "Loary" poster; there is a "Jully Watson" instead of Julie Watson, "Rocky McCDnald" instead of Rocky McDonald, "Sam Traycy" instead of Sam Tracy.
- The poster in the pool hall says Disco Fiver instead of Disco Fever.
- When the biker gang drive past the stores, on the signs it is listed as "smokeing" instead of smoking.
- On the typed newspaper article where it says "GEYO" and was intended to be just that word, typos such as "GETO" and "OEYO" appear.

- In Japan, this episode along with Part 2 Episode 78, Part 2 Episode 106 and Part 2 Episode 117 are nicknamed the "Broadway series".
- Bucky and Butcher T. Marchin from Part 2 Episode 106 and Buckingham from Part 2 Episode 117 make cameo appearances at the beginning of the episode.
- Yuzo Aoki did the storyboard for the episode. Due to his style, it influences the designs for Mrs Dokonjo, Benson Dokonjo Jr and the security guard.
- There are mentions to the Bee Gees and Elvis on the posters in the pool hall where Lupin and later Benson are in. There is also a poster for "Lory Olivie" however it is unknown whether it was a reference to Laurence Olivier or something that the animators made up.
- Even though the actors and the show itself of the Loary musical are fictional, the animators were influenced from real actors. "Jully Watson" is based on Julie Walters, "Rocky McCDnald" is based on Roddy McDowall and Michel Fonda was based on either Henry or Peter Fonda.
- The newspaper is the Daily Doconjo, this is different than the translation used in English and Italian where her name is Dokonjo however in the English subtitles has it translated as Doconjo.
- The name Dokonjo was influenced by the manga Dokonjō Gaeru (known as The Gutsy Frog in English) and TMS also did the anime adaptation. It roughly means guts in English.
- In the Japanese original Benson Dokonjo Jr only says "Geyo, Geyo". Since this is lost in translation, the Italian dub had him not talk at all.
- The East Side Story billboard is a reference to the musical West Side Story.
