Censorship[]
Italian[]
The episode was fully dubbed into Italian and was originally aired visually almost uncut as well as DVD releases however when it is aired on Mediaset channels, scenes were removed and edited due to regulation and in one case was always cut. All the nudity moments have been replaced and the ending is cut.
- The beginning where the house is zooming in is cut out. This is due to adding the Italian title card at the beginning rather than in the Japanese original where the title card appears from 3 minutes 15 seconds into the episode. This affects all TV airings from the original EuroTV airing in the early 1980s to the current airings on Italia 2 but not DVD or Blu-ray releases where the title card is in same place as the original.
- When Zenigata tries the potion for the first time and sees Nova, it has changed to looking at each other awkwardly via freeze frames keeping the tone. Notably this removes the animation from Zenigata blushing, pulling his tie and moving his eyes.
- When Fujiko is on the train with the officers seeing herself naked was replaced by a freeze frame and repeating footage of the camera panning up.
- When Lupin is laughing and holding Fujiko's bra was replaced with a freeze frame of him by the controls.
- There is a freeze frame of the house to remove the Japanese text saying Israel. This is due to that the original Japanese masters were used instead of the later International masters that were textless.
The ending was also cut short just after finding out that it was Christ's feeding bottle and the last scene in the Mediaset TV airings is a shocked Lupin showing the bottle to Goemon. The part where Lupin comments that he wants to feed on Fujiko's breasts, seeing her naked via the potion and revealing of Christ drinking on a bottle in the picture have been cut. The last cut might be due to religious reasons.
Notes[]
- Arsène Lupin had a different character design compared to Part 2 Episode 14.
- Unusually in the Italian dub, the references to Lupin I were kept in. In most episodes that referenced Arsène Lupin in Part 2, his name was changed due to copyright reasons.
- In the English fan translation, Nova is Norma and Mary (as in the Virgin Mary) is Maria.
