"The Great Gold Showdown!" is the 23rd and final episode of Lupin the 3rd Part 1.
Synopsis[]
A disputed horde of recently discovered ancient gold coins draws the attention of Lupin III and company. As the ownership of the coins is disputed, Lupin decides to settle the matter on his own by stealing them from the Dai Nippon Bank. This time, Koichi Zenigata decides not to wait for Lupin to carry out the hit but to counterattack by locating and raiding his hideout. After a dispute with his chief, he also offers him a letter of resignation in case of a further failure, and vows to stop Lupin on his own in one final showdown.

Translation Notes[]
In the original, when Fujiko loses the pursuer, her mouth keeps moving but she doesn't say anything. In the English dub, Michelle Ruff adds more dialogue.
Notes[]
- While Fujiko Mine is driving her Mini Cooper, Yasuo Otsuka can be seen driving an army Jeep then repairing the Jeep. Then Fujiko drives into Hayao Miyazaki's car.
- When Lupin is showing the library, the weapons and the vehicles in his hideout, the idea was later used and expanded as the final chapter of New Adventures where "he" shows off his hideout. It's the only time where the manga takes an idea from one of Miyazaki's works.
- The first of many times in the series where Zenigata would be knocked out by some kind of drug while trying to catch Lupin. In this case, drugged food.
