Mirage (daughter) is a character from Lupin the Third Part 5.
Character History[]
Mirage was a sniper and a mercenary who was hired by Zylberstein. When she does her job, she covers her head and face leaving only her eyes visible making her hard to trace. She is also the daughter of Mirage (mother) and while her father is unknown, her mother passed down her sniping skills as she was teaching her during peacetime. Her mother told her that "if you ever had a reason to fight, I wouldn't stand in your way".
In North Africa, while Lupin III was talking to a waitress she aimed at his head however she missed and ended up injuring the waitress. On the news, it was revealed that she suffered from minor injuries. Then she shot a police officer who was patrolling in the arm. The golden colored bullets all had chess moves engraved on them. At Zylberstein's mansion, she was cleaning her sniper rifle while he had expected great things from her. Lupin and Zylberstein played chess outside a cabin in the bottom of a canyon with the winner getting €1 million while Daisuke Jigen and Mirage target each other. When Jigen aimed with his sniper rifle for the first time and saw Mirage, he thought that he saw her by a ruined house at the top of the canyon however after taking the headshot, it turned out that she used a dummy. She was inside a house and took a shot however Jigen rolled away from the fire knowing that they will have a dance together and fired back yet she avoided the shot by hiding at the back of the wall. She then reloaded her rifle.
Mirage moved to another part of the ruins by running and Jigen also moved crawling on the ground. She found another house and moved her cloak while aiming at Jigen who kept moving, she then fired an explosive HEIAP round that Jigen narrowly avoided. Mirage kept firing the rounds while Jigen was running and avoiding the shots in the ruins, she managed to get a shot in his arm. Jigen then moved to have a clear shot and fired, she narrowly avoided the shot as she turned her head and ran away. As Jigen slide down and moved to a low wall, it was revealed that Mirage had a drone showing his location and it was destroyed as Jigen used his magnum.
Jigen managed to bandaged up his arm and threw a smoke grenade, Mirage took a shot but she ended up shooting down a wooden plank with a coat. They fired against other avoiding each others shots while moving along the ruins. At one point they fired at the same time with the bullets being on top of each other and hit the wall for both of them. They ended up reloading their rifles. Soon they became tired while Jigen having a sip of liquid through a straw, Mirage fired a clip at the arched structure where there was a weakness and the building came down thinking that she got Jigen.
As Jigen appeared to be taken out, Mirage reloaded and moved towards the edge. She aims at Lupin however she ends up having a ricochet shot as she fired at Zylberstein's right leg due to Jigen shooting at her sniper rifle. He fell down to the ground also knocking down his chess table, screaming in pain from his leg. After seeing that Lupin is still alive and was frustrated, she moved down towards ground level and ran straight towards Lupin. He threw her to the ground with her cloak and rifle dropped. Jigen ran towards her shouting her name however he was surprised that she was a different Mirage as she got up.
She wondered why he managed to get out of the rubble and gasped as he explained that he used his magnum to shoot at the rock that was heading towards him. Lupin tells Jigen that she is Mirage's daughter. Jigen asks her where was her mother and she tells him that she's still fighting however she is also very sick, requiring a hospital in Europe but doesn't have the money to do so. Lupin knew that she took the Lupin job to get the money. Jigen ran towards her and was angry that her mother later left the battlefield to raise her right and that she went back in the field to make a bit of cash. She shouted back at him explaining that her mother taught her the skills and if she can't fight for her, she wouldn't know when to take up arms and tells Jigen if she can make her mother better then do so.
Lupin broke up the argument and she still wants the fight as she needs the money, he told her that he will provide the money and not out of charity has he beat Zylberstein at chess for €1 million. Jigen tells her that her mother was a "hell of a shot" and she's not cut out for this work as she can't compete with her, she should turn her back and not chase a mirage as she started to tremble. He also took her sniper rifle and to tell her mother that she got rid of the weapon as she looked upset looking at Jigen.
She decided to move to a home with her mother in Viva Lupin III, where Mirage was showing her mother on her tablet a live stream of Lupin, Jigen and Goemon Ishikawa XIII storming into PeopleLog headquarters. Mirage said it was from Jigen and her mother smiled.
Personality[]
Mirage was willing to do anything to save her mother from illness, even if she had to kill people. When Lupin gave her the money, Jigen took her gun and after that she gave up using this and lived with her mother.
