Markane is a character who appeared in Lupin the Third Part II.
Character history[]
Markane is the richest man in the Harlem neighborhood of New York. He wants to clear Harlem away from criminals and to make the place a crime free place. In public, he goes around in a car branded with his campaign and gives bars of chocolate to kids along with Koichi Zenigata. Zenigata found Lupin and begged the police chief to ask Markane for help.
Outside his public appearance, he is greedy. He took the betting money away from Chico and gave him an invite to a masquerade party that he gave to Lupin to lure him into a trap. Markane also complains that Chico's betting money is not enough and wanted more.
Lupin dressed up as Super Lupin attends the masquerade party at his mansion and Markane puts a gun to his back while giving Chico his betting money back. He ties Lupin up and put him hanging upside down on a stage. His plan involves mercenaries and give 10 rounds to shoot Lupin with his $10,000 guns. By the last round and with everyone shooting with the lights on, they will shoot Lupin. The longer the rounds last, the more Markane earns from as the shooters give him money and bet who will get him.
Knowing this Lupin managed to move himself as the bullets set him free and picked up Markane, spinning around and threw him out of the window. Zenigata then arrested Markane as he put him on his shoulders, discovering that it was illegally gambling rather than a party. After letting him go to arrest the other people at the party, it is unknown afterwards what happens to Markane.
