Mariya Isshiki (一色 まりや, Isshiki Mariya) is a main character from the TV Special Tokyo Crisis.
History[]
Mariya was a reporter for Tokyo File, a magazine published by Kunito Publishing House. She tries to interview Koichi Zenigata outside a museum, but he's late. She walks back to police headquarters with him, but they run into Lupin III. As Zenigata tries to catch Lupin, Mariya has a vision of him in an embarrassing situation, tripping over. As she takes a photo of him, he trips as she predicted. Zenigata tries to handcuff Lupin, but ends up handcuffing Mariya instead. As he chases the thief into the subway, she follows him asking him to remove the handcuffs, but has a vision of him getting shoved into the train door. Her vision proves accurate.
Later, Mariya is seen in her office of the Tokyo File. Her boss, who she doesn't realize is Fujiko Mine, Mariya that Zenigata is to one of the guards at the opening of Aquapolis, the amusement park owned by Michael Suzuki.
At home, she thinks about her past when she has a vision of Zenigata falling off the edge of the highway. Sure enough, he does, but Mariya saves him. They pursue Lupin, but he gets away as usual.
Later, Zengiata is dismissed and goes on a drunken binge with Mariya. He confesses to her that he thinks Suzuki is hiding something before passing out. She helps him walk home and leaves him by the stairwell, but he passes out again. She then helps him into his apartment. He tries to kiss her on the cheek but she throws him. She discovers a jutte in his apartment. Zenigata drunkenly mumbles about his ancestors, which causes her to have more flashbacks of her father giving her an ancestral watch to protect her from "bad illnesses". She then leaves a bowl of miso soup in the refrigerator for the blackout drunk Zenigata to have the next morning.
The next night, Zenigata and Mariya do a stakeout. They trail Fujiko and Suzuki into a building, but are forced to wait in the lobby. She then has a vision of Lupin and Fujiko being thrown into an elevator. She leads Zenigata to the elevator. They see Lupin and Fujiko being ambushed by Suzuki and his men, although the thieves were pretending to have been knocked out by gas, and the two pairs save each other in the battle.
Zenigata and Mariya discover Suzuki's secret laboratory. Lupin arrives to help and gives them disguises. He tells them that Suzuki as been experimenting with genetic engineering. Mariya reveals that he father studied genetic engineering as well.
The group is arrested on exiting the building, but Mariya is released early. She returns to her apartment and is kidnapped by Suzuki's men. Suzuki reveals to Mariya that he and her father had worked together on an experiment. Suzuki wanted to use their findings to create super soldiers and killed Mariya's father when he interfered with his plan. Suzuki explains that Mariya can see the future because of special DNA. He tells her he plans to use her egg cells to create his super soldiers and sell them to foreign countries.
She is rescued by Zenigata with Lupin's help.
As Suzuki is arrested, she scares him with an unloaded gun.
Later, she helps Zenigata to chase Lupin, and confesses to him that he reminds her of her father. Zenigata, who was falling in love with Mariya, writes it off as another failed romance and tells her to drive faster.
She keeps a photo of her and Zenigata at her bedside.
