Notes[]
- When collected in tankōbon (単行本?) volumes, the title was simplified by using only the series name, and it became the 80th chapter for Aizoban, Chuokoron-Shinsha, and Tokyopop volumes.
- The original Weekly Manga Action issue categorized this as the final chapter of the A Skilled Villain Hides Its Fangs Series however when it was collected into volumes, this was dropped. While the Futabasha volumes kept the order, in the Aizoban and the Chuokoron-Shinsha volumes as well as the English Tokyopop translation, Lupin III Chapter 80 was later in the manga.[1]
- The title of this series is a reference to a japanese proverb: "A wise man keeps some if his talents in reserve" (能ある鷹は爪をかくす Nō Aru Taka ha Tsume o Kakusu?).
- In the anime adaptation, Kyosuke Mamo's backstory was altered to be born on November 18, 1932 rather than February 30, 2854 and his appearance was changed having a black bob hair cut rather than the late 1960s hairstyle he had in the chapter. The original birthdate and appearance was later used in the TV Special Elusiveness of the Fog. Another difference was that Kyosuke was killed while in the episode, he let him live but his time machine had been destroyed. There were other changes such as the unnamed woman being Fujiko Mine and Kyosuke kidnapped her rather than killed her ancestors, the time travelling scene where Kyosuke travels in time to see a young Goemon Ishikawa XIII was cut and Lupin III wanted to see Fujiko rather than a picture of his descendants.
