Lupin III Chapter 39 is titled "Psychedelic Series ① Crazy Crazy".
Synopsis[]
Lupin tells Jigen about a dream he had where he saw a blonde woman peeling off her skin and her skeleton emerging. He then looks outside and sees the same woman standing on a street corner. He confronts her and asks if they met. She says they haven't. She tells him that Jigen will be murdered in Lupin's room at ten o'clock that night. Lupin races back, but gets shot at on his way there. The assassin says he wants to muscle in on Lupin's business. He finds the assassin was Jigen, then finds the woman again and tries to have sex with her... but ends up pulling her skin off.
Lupin finds himself on the floor, with Jigen, who is very much alive, telling Lupin he's been sleepwalking. Lupin is outraged to find he's been dreaming again, and hits Monkey Punch on the way across the room. The blonde woman from Lupin's dream enters. Lupin freaks out and demands a rewrite. Jigen assures Lupin he's probably stressed out "about that thing". Lupin wonders what the "thing" is. Jigen tells the woman Lupin's worried about her "thing". Lupin asks if he can put his "thing" in her "thing".
Jigen introduces the woman as Fujiko Mine and told Lupin he said he'd give her an assignment. Fujiko denies that Lupin ever meant to hire her at all. Jigen asks Lupin to get Fujiko to take off her clothes, then he'll remember. This doesn't get to throught to Lupin, so Jigen leaves. Fujiko starts to strip everything off, including her skin. At this point, Lupin gives up and curses Monkey Punch for the cruel twist of fate. Presumably he goes back to sleep just to make sure it wasn't reality after all.

Notes[]
- When collected in tankōbon (単行本?) volumes, it became the 49th chapter in Futabasha volumes, and the 48th chapters in Aizoban, Chuokoron-Shinsha, and Tokyopop volumes.
- The original Weekly Manga Action issue categorized this as the first chapter of the Psychedelic Series however when it was collected into volumes, this was dropped moving the other chapters around in the manga.[1]
- Despite the fact that Lupin III is usually portrayed as a man who doesn't dream, he has nightmares in this chapter. He's also depicted as having dreams in various episodes of the anime, such as in Part III Episode 1.
- Although the final chapter is hinted to be reality, it begs the question as to why Lupin was sleeping in his clothes, in a bed.
