Lisa Argento is the main character of Record of Observations of the East - Another Page.
Character History[]
Lisa is a university student learning archaeology in the Italian city of Genoa. She is polite and gently spoken however she lived in a shelter life and easily gets upset.
Her grandfather, Theo Argento was murdered by Professor Claudio and she was so upset that she locked herself in her room since he was her only relative left. She was at his grave, crying as she wondered why and Claudio came towards her for some comfort. Koichi Zenigata went towards the cemetery and found her, apologised for interrupting Claudio's press conference and tried asking her questions but she fretted as Claudio believes that Lupin was involved with the murder while Zenigata knows that he didn't.
As Lisa mentioned that Lupin is a thief, three mafia goons were approaching them and Zenigata told them to run away. While he wrestled with one, the other two went towards them and Claudio told Lisa to run away as Zenigata handcuffed one. She felt worried that she had to run by herself however as soon as she saw the goon attacking Claudio, she ran away in fear.
Jigen saved Lisa while carrying her in a panic outside a restaurant, it turns out that a tank was after her. As soon as she saw Lupin, she started getting worried that he was going to kill her. The two men say that they are Inspector Colonel and Detective Sanders from the ICPO who was asked to keep her safe. She wondered whether they were Zenigata's friends but Lupin replied in an unsure way. As Jigen gave Lisa to Lupin, he fired at the person operating the tank and shot him. Then he reloaded his magnum with custom made bullets and shot the tank as it went straight to the river.
Even though Lupin and Jigen saved her, she was upset and crying in an alleyway and wondered why her grandfather had to die. He never took a bath despite her advice. She told him not to waste food but refused to eat peppers. She told him to smoke outside but he smoked in his room. She was unable to cope with the change however Lupin gave her Theo's diary and told her to read the last page that she read aloud. Lisa mentions that she shouldn't have found Another Page however Lupin told her to read the previous entry that talks about that she is a brilliant archaeologist and they will find the secret one day. She doubts whether this is possible since she is not like Cleopatra or Joan of Arc.
The phone rang and it was Professor Claudio, she got better talking to him. As Lupin mentions to Jigen, he wants her cheering up. Despite Lupin warning her about the people who wanted her, she waved to Claudio who was with Zenigata, this made Lupin worried. Fujiko then drives towards them in a car and Lupin promised Lisa to take her to Claudio later as he encourages her to get in the car with Fujiko, she takes Lisa with her without Lupin and Jigen.
It was a mistake for Lupin as Lisa is sat on a chair with two goons, she asks whether this is the ICPO but they laugh and told her that she's been kidnapped, she then sighed. She did however escape with Jigen while Lupin distracted Bernardo Vilar and Fujiko. Again, she asked whether Fujiko was part of the ICPO but he says that she trouble as he saved her by shooting a nearby goon.
Lupin managed to find records of Bernardo, Jigen with Lisa wanted him to go with Jigen almost slipped out that he was Lupin but he managed to copy the files onto a flash drive and run with them. They managed to stumble into a weapon manufacturing warehouse and with the siren going off, they escaped in a Jeep.
While driving on the road, Lupin deciphered the text of Another Page but woke up Lisa who was sleeping at the back seat. He tells her that ICPO is looking for the treasure to prevent any potential wars but she has a flashback of Theo saying that there is a timeless message of us at the end of the discovery. Lisa notices that Lupin said a similar thing to Theo and wanted to join him to discover the secret, he agreed but they have to go to Beijing.
They ended up in Tabrz, Iran and she went into a restaurant to phone up Claudio since her mobile ran out of power. Lisa comes back to Lupin and Jigen, Lupin explains to her that Marco Polo's travels were difficult and she replied the missionaries who helped him ran home. She panicked when they were talking about Beijing and Lupin's contact of Bao Long but gave them a golden necklace that Theo got from the Black Market. As Lupin notices the holes, Lisa believes that it is a whistle and Theo believed that it was connected to Marco Polo. Lupin asked why she's helping him but she replies that after him and Jigen saved her, she wasn't much use. After Lupin mentioning opening up to her pals, she smiled as he told her to look after the whistle.
While Lisa was sleeping in the back seat, Lupin and Jigen made it to Beijing. As the alarms were going off, it disturbed Lisa but goes back to sleep when Jigen told her it was the prison alarm. She woke up in another part of Beijing as she was cold and got out of the Jeep, she saw a hovercraft with a tank coming out of it. Lisa got worried about "Mr. Sanders" and blew on the whistle as a tank was firing at Jigen, she got terrified about the tank and decided to get back in the Jeep to drive off screaming. Jigen managed to jump onto the Jeep then back in to drive. She panicked that she doesn't have a driving license and apologised.
The roof came off the Jeep to pick up Lupin and Bao Long to drive towards the bridge. Lisa panicked that she wouldn't make it but while the tank sank into the driver, a laser beam called Zeal was and activated. Jigen holding Lisa jumped into the river. They were saved by locals on a boat and Bao Long told them to use it to get to Japan. The problem is that Lisa found out that Bao Long was a mafia boss and wondered why the ICPO worked with criminals, Bao gave her advice that common sense might be false and use your own eyes for judgement.
On the boat to Japan, Lisa looked at the water alone and without her glasses, cried when she saw Jigen. They both looked at each other as a surprise and believes that it is unreal. She asks Jigen what kind of person is Lupin and he mentioned about revenge as well as telling her to get some sleep. Lupin jokes that she's cute when she's honest and believes that Jigen has fallen in love with her.
In a temple located in Hiraizumi; Lupin, Lisa and Jigen are looking into the inside with golden statues and the frame is made of gold. She cries when she sees the treasure but it was a happy cry as she knows that the golden hall represents a peaceful utopia. Lupin mentions that it is a delusion that Kublai Khan and Marco Polo also had, then they left the golden hall.
While walking down the street, Lisa mentions that the Chunsonji temple was around the same time as Marco Polo as Lupin believes that it is not the treasure. She smiled when they mention Goemon and believes that the ICPO has a diverse group. Later she meets Goemon and gets excited as Lupin calls him a detective. Nearby ready to arrest Lupin, Zenigata talks to Claudio and wants to protect Lisa.
As they look at the Seven Tools of Benkai, they wonder about the Golden Sword and Lisa using her knowledge explains to Goemon's master about Marco Polo. There was a discovery that the master also had a manuscript but it was used as a placemat. Getting worried, Lisa ran away and Hiromi went after her however she did not travel far as the goons grabbed Hiromi while she was protecting Lisa and kidnapped her. Lupin gives Lisa his Walther P38 and she ran off as she felt responsible for the kidnapping.
Lisa sat on a field and cried as she felt sorry about Hiromi's kidnapping but Claudio found her and she hugged him. He tells her to go home and this was not meant to happen. Lupin found them and Claudio tells her that Lupin murdered her grandfather. She doesn't believe Claudio but Lupin tell her his real name instead of Inspector Colonel. While crying, she points to the gun to Lupin with Claudio encouraging her to shoot to avenge Theo's death. With a smile, Lupin tells them that Claudio is actually a double agent for both the ICPO and Lombardo as he explains about the murder. She didn't know who was telling the truth and Lupin tells her to decide for herself, she decided that Lupin told the truth however Claudio shot him and she screamed.
Claudio was dragging Lisa away as he told her his side of the story involving Theo sacrificing himself to protect Another Page. Zenigata on his bike saved Lisa while bumping into Claudio, he explained that while planting a bug Claudio did it to become future president. He later protected Lisa as she wonders about Lupin however Bernardo in his jet tells Zenigata that is forbidden in the area and Lisa had to go with Claudio in the jet. Fujiko who was inside the jet ended up saving both Lisa and Hiromi. As Goemon using the Zantetsuken makes a hole so she can escape, she says that she never forgive Claudio for what he had done with a stern face. She escaped the jet with Goemon and Hiromi.
Outside the temple, Lisa give Lupin the whistle and he blew into it causing the doors to open. The golden sword was found but it was tiny, inside the whistle. Lisa read out the message with the rest of the gang saying similar proverbs about history and the future, she was crying. Along with Jigen and Fujiko, she returned on a boat presumably to go back home to Italy.
