VHS Re-release

The first volume of this re-release is labeled as the volume 2. This is because the volume 1 is the first VHS that include the two episodes of Part 2 where Miyazaki has been involved (episode 145 and 155).[1]

The first re-release (Catalog Number without the "9") was sold at 14'800 Yens by unit. Later, a second re-release (Catalog Number with the "9") was sold at 5'800 Yens by unit. The packaging design between this two editions remains the same. On this version we can read the description of Lupin III by himself that will be used in later releases by Emotion/Bandai:

Let me introduce myself. My name is Lupin the Third, grandson of the famous thief, Lupin the First.
Policeman all over the world are frantically searching for me, but they've never caught me.
Perhaps I shouldn't be so boastful, but I've never failed on a job yet.
I'm like a phantom: I can appear anywhere at anytime and be gone without a trace.
Now you know who I am, Lupin the Third.

LaserDisc

In 1985, Emotion/Bandai released their first laserdisc that includes the first four episodes of Part 1 with their titles in English. Later on November, 1987 they released the last 19 episodes in five laserdisc with the last one having three episodes. In May, 1988, Emotion/Bandai did a reprint of the first laserdic with a new packaging design to match the other laserdiscs. Monkey Punch did the illustrations for the covers of this seven laserdiscs. Although it was for the episodes of Part 1, Lupin III wears a red jacket.

On September 15, 1990, Emotion/Bandai released a box that contains all the episodes of Part 1 (reprint of the laserdiscs released between 1987 and 1988) and a special laserdisc with the two episodes of Part 2 where Miyazaki has been involved (Part 2, episode 145 and 155).

VAP Edition (1993-2009)[]

VHS Releases

VAP released in 1993 their first VHS edition of the Part 1 including four videocassettes with the last one having five episodes.

Six years later, the company released a new VHS edition with a new packaging design (more colorful than the first edition) and the description of Lupin III on the cover that will be used in later releases by VAP:

Lupin the Third is the greatest phantom thief in the world.
He never misses whatever chance he aims at.
Nothing can escape from his clutches... the rarest diamond,
the darkest secret nor the truest heart.
He is light-footed, gracefully snobbish, and always free.
Two able comrades, Daisuke Jigen and Goemon Ishikawa, one girlfriend Fujiko Mine,
one rival Zenigata Inspector are the precious assets for him.
Here's to lupin in his epicurean nights and days!

The four videocassettes of this second edition has also been released in a box compilation under the catalog number: "VPVY-64975". The release date is unknown.

Laserdisc Releases

On December, 1994, VAP released their own laserdisc edition with a box of five laserdisc including a booklet. Each cover of the five laserdisc is a redraw of famous scene in Part 1.

Italy[]

The first release was by Pentavideo in 1994 under the title Lupin, l'incorreggibile Lupin until Yamato Video took over in 2000 and are the current rightsholder. Outside of the original DVD and VHS release, Yamato Video had worked with other companies such as CG/Dolmen and Anime Factory to distribute the series as well as magazine companies such as DeAGOSTINI, Hachette and Gazzetta.

Pentavideo[]

The VHS releases were under the Bim Bum Bam video label that was named after a TV programme airing on Canale 5. Pentavideo was connected to Mediaset (who were credited as Gruppo Fininvest, 5 Videos and Canale 5 Music) who had also commissioned the artwork, the back features an Osamu Dezaki styled Red Jacket Lupin that was on all of the video releases. This is based on the 1987 Italian MITO dub and is censored.

The other two volumes in the series are from Lupin the 3rd Part 2.
