Herbert von Meyer is a character of Lupin the 3rd Part 2.
History[]
Meyer was an underworld crime boss. According to Daisuke Jigen who he met in the past, he was involved with smuggling, spying and murder who would do anything for money. He called Meyer "low life scum".
When a Nazi U-boat had sunk into the Mediterranean Sea with gold that was worth $100 million, Lupin III had claimed the gold that he was after. There was a second crime between him and Lupin however Meyer did not go into detail apart from that it involved money.
His henchmen took Linda from a bar and drove off a car. He asks the henchman sat next to him whether Jigen was following them, he looked behind him and confirmed causing Herbert to smile while having Linda on his lap. They arrived at his house and while his henchmen put Linda at the back, he was in the living room holding a drink while waiting for Jigen. They prepared the Gatling gun and as Jigen arrived, the gun was fired causing his to slyly smile. The door came down with Jigen holding on to it, one of his henchmen thought that he got him however Jigen fired his magnum and shot them.
Jigen pointed his gun to Meyer and he said "don't shoot" as more henchmen came in, he sweated and added to all of you. He told them to drop their weapons and they had done so but as Jigen was ready to drop his, he noticed one was preparing a secondary weapon causing him to shoot at the chandelier and caught two of the henchmen. Meyer says to Jigen that it has been a while and he replies that he usually forgets a face but remembers him. They had a talk and wondered why Meyer had kidnapped Linda and he tells Jigen that she is his subordinate and fled from his organization, he brought her back. Jigen wanted to bring her out but Meyer with a shifty look as Jigen wanted to date her. Meyer called her a traitor and Jigen got closer to Meyer pointing his magnum at Meyer's head who was sweating and panicking, Jigen ordered him to leave Linda alone as a promise otherwise he will shoot him. Meyer understands as Jigen took Linda and left the house. As his henchmen were about to go after Jigen, Meyer put his arms up to stop and smiles as his plan is working.
Meyer sent a robot that looks like Fujiko Mine to a hideout where Lupin and Goemon Ishikawa XIII were staying. The robot exploded and a screen popped up. Meyer tells Lupin that it has been a while and after being so humiliated that he thought that he would stay silent. As he explained about the past, he sulked that Lupin had beat him then got annoyed by the thought. He was reading off a screen saying that he has Fujiko under his control as he kidnapped her and put her in a glass tube, he claims to have caught her before she went to Tokyo to get Goemon's Japanese food and took her from Rome to Spain. Meyer points to Lupin that at midnight, he'll be waiting for him in Barcelona and ready to kill him. Lupin agreed and Meyer smiled as if Lupin didn't come, Fujiko will face a worse death than the explosion that Lupin encountered. He asked Meyer where in Barcelona and the meeting place was the Sagrada Família with Lupin doing an unease nod. Meyer tells him that the screen will explode in 10 seconds so Lupin and Goemon escaped the hideout as it exploded.
Meyer along with Linda had set a trap causing Lupin and Jigen to duel at the Sagrada Família at midnight thinking one of them is Meyer. Linda who was holding Meyer had arrived at the cathedral as they saw Lupin and Jigen on the ground being shot, he claimed that his scheme was brilliant and called himself a genius. Then after Linda thinking that Jigen believed in the rose that she gave him, Meyer laughed and called them fools. They went away unaware that Lupin and Jigen had used special bullets that when shot they appear as blood packs.
As the sun was rising, one of his henchmen who was the driver thought that he saw ghosts. Meyer and Linda turned looking behind to see Lupin and Jigen being alive, he tried to shoot them with his henchman but the bullets were deflected. Jigen shot one of the tires on Meyer's car out of heartbreak that Linda betrayed him.
Herbert von Meyer presumably died along with Linda and his associates when the car crashed into a barrier and headed down a cliff towards the sea.
