Hayate is a character of Lupin the 3rd Part 1.
History[]
Hayate was a commander to an unknown organization where he leads henchmen such as Sumito and Kumaso who have took over a village. His goal was to obtain the golden "Sister Statues". According to Daisuke Jigen, he is an "impulsive idiot" who is unpredictable.
In a hut, he tied up and gagged the Elder of a village as he wanted the statues. While the Elder was muffled, he laughed, told him not to cry and went off however he saw someone cut a hole with a saw. As Hayate mentioned that Lupin III would come to save the Elder, Fujiko Mine stole one of the statues as he grabbed an axe and threw it at the wall as she ran off then he followed her. As Fujiko got onto a snowmobile, he pointed and ordered Sumito to go after her.
Hayate, Sumito and the rest of the subordinates returned to the hut and the Elder observed Sumito's failure to stop Fujiko as well as Hayate saying that if it wasn't for Fujiko, he would have caught Lupin. The Elder now with his gag removed laughed so Hayate gave him a quick punch to the face and pointed to Sumito to contact headquarters for further instructions. On the radio, Hayate contacted his boss from a radio saying that one of the statues was stolen and his boss informed him that the plan was made to solve their financial problems and was considered his best man, he ordered more soldiers and was granted permission sending them to Point D however was told not to make anymore mistakes. Hayate then killed Sumito with an thrown axe saying "you pay for your mistakes with your life" and looked at the Elder as he had a smug face and laughed, he walked towards him and hit him on the head with the axe causing a bump as Hayate did not find it funny.
The Elder told him that it was not funny but finds it stupid that he is killing his own men over the statues, Hayate then pointed at him as in the past, the Elder tried to rip him off from the deal by doubling then tripling the original offer. He tells Hayate that the "Sister Statues" are the only treasure left in the village and wants as much as he can from them as otherwise everything would have been lost if they were stolen. Hayate felt threatened and shoved the axe to the Elder's face as he thought that he had a big mouth, he then told Kumaso that the reinforcements to Point D will arrive with his plan to set traps around the village as he knew that Lupin and Fujiko are after the other statue without fail. As Kumaso left, Hayate grabbed the statue laughing and smiling as he tells the Elder that there was more to come wondering who has the last laugh. The Elder laughed knowing that he will but Hayate threw the axe at him near his head and called him stupid while pointing, Hayate told the Elder that if he does it again he will be dead.
Outside a helicopter had arrived and dropped off the reinforcements, Hayate ordered half to head down to the village while the rest will patrol the area with no time to lose however he was unaware that Jigen was spying on him. Despite being off screen, it is assumed that Hayate had ordered Kumaso to attack on a cave where Lupin, Jigen and Fujiko were in.
As Lupin and Jigen head towards the village, Hayate returned to the hut after gathering reinforcements holding a dagger at the Elder. He wondered what he was going to do however Hayate helped by untying him but threatened him with the axe if he doesn't do what he says. The Elder got worried and nodded. He went back outside and were with a group as Lupin went to the cabin where the Elder was held. As the negotiations were happening, he went outside the hut and ordered his henchmen to plant dynamite on a snowmobile.
The next morning as Lupin went off, Hayate had grabbed hold of Fujiko and tied her up as he had planned something. Then the subordinates had grabbed the Elder and Hayate told them to tie him up, he said that it wasn't as he promised however Hayate mentioned that he wanted his help but not an exchange for freedom. Kumaso had arrived to tell him that it was a success and Hayate thought that Lupin will be dead, he was happy knowing that the statues were going to be his along with Lupin's money. He thought that he would have been the hero of the organization.
Hayate is looking at both the statues with a smile thinking that Lupin is dead as the Elder and Fujiko were tied up sitting down next to each other, both Fujiko and Hayate were talking about how she felt about Lupin. The Elder looked the other way and told him that she doesn't mean it in that way, Hayate then slapped him and said that he talked too much taking the statues and the money. The Elder was surprised as that was not what was promised thinking that he would get a cut of the money, Hayate claimed that it was a change of plans and didn't like being mocked. The Elder then said that no good will come to him by lying to elderly people but he heard a noise outside and opened the door.
Lupin and Jigen were firing rockets at the village blowing up the houses and taking out his henchmen, he was then on the ground and Kumaso dived in to tell him that his side had wiped out. Hayate had an idea however Kumaso was annoyed that he followed his orders and this was the result, he tells him that there were only two or three members of Lupin's team so his subordinates can scatter around as Lupin couldn't do anything about it. They both believed that they could do it but if not, he takes responsibility of the failure.
Hayate along with the remaining crew fled in armored trucks and snowmobiles however Lupin and Jigen had set mines to take them out. His truck got hit by a landmine blowing it up and he landed in the snow, he got up holding an axe and the bag as Kumaso suggested that he should have taken responsibility. After calling for Lupin as he didn't want to give up the statues, just as he was about to throw his axe Jigen pointed his magnum behind his back and told him to relax and go. Kumaso wondered about who was going to fail but all he could say was that "you pay for your mistakes with your life" and that was the rule. Hayate ran towards the burning truck and then it exploded causing his death.
It turned out that the statues that he had were fake after all.
