Hawk is a character introduced in The Blood Spray of Goemon Ishikawa.
History[]
Hawk is an assassin known for his superhuman strength, his reflexes, his use of his axe heads to attack people and has metallic teeth. One of his characteristics is that he rides on motorcycles to the point of stealing them to get away.
In the past, he was a legendary commando and once killed two thousand soldiers in a single campaign but thirteen years ago, he was claimed to be killed in action while on a special ops mission in Bermuda as a bomb from a fighter plane was dropped.
After the explosion, Hawk managed to survive and has been working as a lumberjack at a private estate where he shows affection towards Salifa outside of his assassin job. Due to what happened, he got the nickname "The Ghost of Bermuda" and intelligence agencies have been on the lookout as they figured that he was still alive.
As he was cutting logs of wood, Salifa came running towards him and they both hugged each other. She showed him three photos as an unknown master gave him another job. While the photos are not shown, it is implied that they are Lupin III, Daisuke Jigen and Fujiko Mine. He replied that it shouldn't be a problem taking them out.
Hawk managed to board a casino ship and using his axe heads started to destroy the engine, this caught the attention of Goemon Ishikawa XIII and asked why he was doing this. He turned around, put the axe heads behind him and decided to smoke from his cigar. He grinned with his teeth. As Goemon is ready to grab his Zantetsuken, Hawk asked "Who are you?". The engine exploded and it flung Goemon back however Hawk stayed where he was and grabbed a metal panel.
As Goemon escaped the exploded ship, Hawk used his axe heads to create a clearing and got out as he climbed onto the roof. Goemon found him and the battled against each other, using his Zantetsuken created a hole and Hawk fell through. With his sword poing towards Hawk, Goemon asked what he was doing on the ship. His response as he sees a boat getting away is "Lupin the Third" but Goemon asked why and the reason given by Hawk was to protect the environment. Then after Goemin saying says that Lupin is his target, he used his axe heads swipe the Zantetsuken to the roof and ran off with Goemon following. He then broke some tiles for Goemon to slow down deflecting them with his sword, Hawk cut the ropes from a nearby speedboat and jumped out to the water then jumped into the speedboat to get away.
He went to Hiroki's bar early morning and ate to himself ribs with everyone watching, each rack that he ordered were enough for ten servings. After eating the lot, he put his hat on, went towards Tachikawa and knocked his lighter so he could get some keys. He left the bar and stole the motorbike to drive off. According to Koichi Zenigata who did some investigating, Hawk had entered Japan illegally to pursue Lupin.
As Lupin was massaging Fujiko's back, Hawk drove straight into their hideout smashing the window. The bike touched the top of Lupin's hair that crashed towards the wall as he dived towards the piles of money and landed on the couch. He got up and smoked his cigar as Jigen asked what "Mister Cowboy" wanted and he replied to "chop you up and turn you into fertilizer". Lupin then provoked him by saying that he should be the one being fertilizer.
Jigen decided to duel with Hawk and as he fired from his magnum, he got out his axe heads and deflect the bullet as it went towards the direction of Fujiko but the bullet missed her. Afterwards Jigen fired his round but he deflected all the bullets, two that landed on Jigen. One on his shoulder and the other on his hat that he was concerned about. Fujiko decided to run away with Jigen following her, Lupin with reluctance ran with them.
Hawk smoked his cigar and put it on the bike that was leaking oil. He then threw an axe head towards Fujiko as he jumped off the balcony and she ran towards the car in a panic as he grabbed his axe head. Due to the cigar being in contact with the oil, the motorbike in the hideout caused the building to explode, he then stole Fujiko's motorbike and drove off following the car that Lupin was driving.
As they were driving through a forest, Hawk took a shortcut on a dirt track and landed on the road. He grabbed his axe heads but Goemon chopped down a tree causing him to squeeze through while Lupin spun out. Goemon chopped down another tree but this time Hawk drove straight towards it and he landed on the other side rolling down the road. He got up and Goemon walked towards him as he had a score to settle. Goemon asked that he wanted to avenge the person that he was suppose to protect but died, Hawk replied to "give it up." The samurai refused and got out his Zantetsuken ready to strike him but Hawk grabbed his sword and using his axe heads fought him by attacking his sword, his shoulder and flew him towards the tree. This image haunted Goemon as he was training.
He picked up his axe head and as he was walking, he wanted his three targets to return to the soil. Zenigata turned up and told him to drop his weapons, he complied and was arrested even though he claimed to be tired.
In his cell marked 4, Hawk fell asleep while Zenigata was watching. When he woke up and Zenigata was gone to argue with the chief, he managed to barge out opening the door and killed the guard as it landed on the door. Hawk grabbed the keys and got his axe heads then murdered all of the officers as he got out of the police station. He then stole a police motorbike and drove off.
As Takeo and Tachikawa were driving in the "Blue Thunderbolt of Izu", they saw Hawk thinking at first that they were the cops. After seeing the person, they decided to go after him as he stole Tachikawa's motorbike. Hawk threw a cigar at Takeo's head causing him to crash towards the barrier, stopping their car. The police and Zenigata were chasing after him, he then slashed the tires from a truck causing the police to lose his tail.
Zenigata fired from his Colt as he was still after him, Hawk crashed into a barrier and fell towards the cliff. He relocated his shoulder and looked at Zenigata, showed his teeth and walked away.
As Zenigata was driving with Lupin and Jigen, they stopped by the road and noticed the rubble. Hawk carved the stones and jumped down towards the car, he used his axe heads to smash the car that Lupin and Jigen were in. Zenigata fired but the bullets deflected towards his leg and screamed in pain, he says that he'll chop down Zenigata if he gets in his way. Lupin and Jigen got out of the car but he went after them.
They arrived at a temple as Lupin and Jigen hid inside, Hawk however found them as he chope through the window and they flung on the floor. As Lupin had a stake stuck in his arm and Jigen has a headache, he noticed that Goemon had arrived. he told him not to interfere but like last time, Goemon got out his Zantetsuken ready to strike him and he grabbed his sword. This time Goemon kicked him and sliced a cut into his hand as he moved towards the roof. It is shown that Hawk had sliced a part of Goemon's shoulder and a deep cut on his back.
Grabbing his axe heads, he ran and single-handedly demolished the temple with Goemon falling towards the ground. Hawk comments that Goemon "seem peaceful in the face of death" and never fought someone like him before as he shut down his five senses. It was a while since he saw blood coming from him as he licked his cut and claims that Goemon would make excellent fertilizer. He ran towards him and threw his axe head that was then destroyed by the Zantetsuken. With the other axe head, he sliced the side of Goemon's arm however he chopped off his right arm and breathed heavily. It is revealed that Goemon sliced his arm at the same time as Hawk sliced his arm. Hawk then picked up his only axe head with his left arm.
Goemon gave him a vision where he chopped off his head with the Zantetsuken and was shocked. Goemon proved that he is human as he lit up a cigar and smoked. Hawk said that Goemon won and told Lupin that he had "impressive bodyguard".
He then reappeared in Fujiko Mine's Lie where he was cutting logs on an island with Miss Salifa. His sliced arm managed to return back to normal. After Lupin spied on the island, it turned out that Hawk is a modified human. It is implied that this is a second Hawk made by Mamo's assassin clone factory.
Notes[]
- In the English dub, Salifa became Lady Salifa and Hawk has shown more manners towards her by being more polite and calls her milady.
- Due to his metallic teeth, his character is a reference to Jaws, the James Bond villain.
- While it is not mentioned, he is implied to be American judging by the comments made by people. Jigen called him a cowboy, Lupin called him a "Western lummox" and Tachikawa was using the term Western wannabe for him.
