Garlic is a character of Lupin the 3rd Part 2.
History[]
Garlic is the president of the Miami Bank, originally a struggling run down bank however became a successful large bank chain due to publicity from Lupin III. While he is animated in terms of his body language and often laughs, he is polite and friendly.
He was pacing around his office when Hamegg opened the door and wanted to see him but the door handle was broken. Garlic tells him that the last amount of money from the bank was taken making them bankrupt and unable to get any more customers as Hamegg was falling from the rotten floor boards, they were the only two staff members left and he sat down in his chair but it broken and fell on the floor. He patted the dust from his back telling Hamegg that the bank would have to close down and thinking that there was one thing that he could do as now his desk got broken. Garlic asked Hamegg the only thing that he could and that was to arrange for Lupin to steal the bank as he smiled.
While Lupin was running away from Koichi Zenigata on the beach, Garlic phoned him up and asked him to rob the Miami Bank however Lupin could not as he did not have the time due to the chase. Lupin and Zenigata were then fighting in the ocean and Garlic followed them by putting on a divers suit. He gave some headphones to Lupin by politely asking, he explained that he is the bank president and apologies for his clothes. Garlic urged Lupin that no matter what he must rob the bank however the cord was wrapping around and Lupin was struggling to breathe so he swam up to the surface for air. He begged him, Lupin agreed providing that he could get rid of Zenigata as Lupin hit him on the head. Then Garlic grabbed Zenigata while in the ocean as Lupin swam away. As Zenigata resurfaced and Garlic was holding him, he hoped that Lupin would do the task.
Outside the bank, he set up an event with fireworks, sellers selling Lupin dolls, food and drink stands, a musical band with cheerleaders. The event was packed as people rushed to buy Lupin dolls and as Lupin arrived, fireworks that lit up Welcome as well as balloons with his name on. Zenigata was patrolling the event saying that bank robbing is a serious thing with people over 18 are only allowed to be here despite kids were there. Garlic was standing in front of the vault closing the doors as it was decorated with world flags, a carpet saying "Wellcome Lupin", ribbons and flowers. He smiled as he just finished putting red bows on the handle.
Lupin managed to drill towards the vault room and entered as Garlic was listening to the drilling and quickly got out of the way. He shook Lupin's hand and dragged him towards the safe, he then got a bottle and told Lupin to smash it to open the safe as he gave him the bottle. Lupin asked why he was obsessed of letting him rob the bank, he held his hands together to explain and then let go saying that it would become a first rate bank if Lupin robbed it, then he put his hands together again and stretched out saying that more people will go to the bank to put money in. Lupin wondered why anyone could think like that but Garlic insists to open the safe and stroked the vault, he smashed the bottle and the door opened only to find Zenigata was inside handcuffing Lupin on the neck. He tells Lupin that there is no money in the safe and grinned. As Lupin found out the truth, Garlic laughed then coughed as he explains that the bank is penniless while smiling and making an okay sign. Afterwards he laughed however Lupin interrupts and tells him whether he means it and that he failed to rob an empty bank. Garlic jumped on top of the safe and danced saying that's the way it is and the Miami Bank is the greatest. Lupin understood as he knew why Daisuke Jigen, Goemon Ishikawa XIII and Fujiko Mine did not turn up, Zenigata wondered how Lupin was able to escape as he put a finger in his gun and as Zenigata fired, Lupin swapped himself with a balloon and got away while Garlic was watching.
After the balloon burst, Garlic got down and read the telegram that Zenigata received from his pistol saying "Good night Inspector Zenigata" then threw it to the floor showing that it was a prop gun. He smiled knowing that from tomorrow more people will go to the bank because of Lupin and said good night to him.
The next day thanks to Hamegg, the bank was full with people queuing up to take their money as Garlic hired extra staff to run the bank. He peeped through the door and was happy with the people coming in, so happy that he was shaking hands and dancing with Hamegg then hugged as they gave themselves "congratulations".
After Lupin pulling the same trick as Hamegg on the helicopter as he was planning to steal the bank, Garlic hired security officers and ordered a new laser guided safe. He invited Zenigata to his office who knew that Lupin steals what he wants and gets. Garlic laughed and reassures him that there is nothing to fear as he takes him to the safe room, he then explains if Lupin tries to steal from the safe he will get killed instantly and made a squint on his right eye. They return to his office as Zenigata asks whether there were more devices in the safe, he says while sitting down that if he tries to break it, the person will get electrocuted and is even Zantetsuken proof. Lupin however found a weakness where a certain type of acid can be used to dissolve the metal.
Hamegg rushed to the office saying that it was an emergency and told Garlic that the safe cannot be opened, he jumped onto the desk being surprised as people were angry that they can't get their money to the point of throwing stones at Garlic's office. He ran to the safe room and saw a technician with Hamegg saying that someone has changed the code and they can't open it. He rubbed his face and ordered to call the manufacturer. Lupin disguised as a scientist came to the vault with Zenigata and inspected the safe saying that it looks bad and cannot be repaired. Garlic begged him to fix the safe no matter what so Lupin got a large container and got to the top of the safe saying that "we are specialists, we are equipped for everything". He squirted the acid that caused fumes to come out as it was dissolving, Garlic was panicking wondering what was going off. Zenigata grabbed Lupin wondering what he had done to the safe and when it finished, Lupin calling Zenigata "Pops" told him that he will get the money as promised from the safe and ripped off his face mask.
Garlic was surprised and wondered how, he also said that he told Lupin to rob the safe but not give him the money. Lupin claimed that it was a fee for the job and pressed a button on the remote to activate the vacuums that Jigen and Fujiko had placed. While the security officers were grabbing the money, Garlic was swimming in the air and told Zenigata to do something. He watched Zenigata and the corrupt officers fight against each other while Lupin was relaxing as he floated in the air. Garlic was grabbing as many bank notes that he could see and got to the top of the safe to try to block the hole, however the vacuums were stronger and pushed him off.
After Lupin successfully completed the heist, Garlic and Hamegg sat next to each other on the floor thinking that it was the end for the bank. It turned out that the press came and asked Garlic how it felt being robbed by Lupin, his story was on the newspapers.
A year later, the branch was completely refurbished and he played golf in his office to enjoy himself. He thanked Lupin for making his bank to be successful throughout America and smiled to Hamegg when he got the note, he then sent Lupin and Zenigata a note with one to steal the bank and the other to stop Lupin. Every year, Lupin decides to steal from the Miami Bank for publicity reasons.

- It is unknown how Garlic managed to get the funds for the event as well as refurbishing the vault before the failed heist.
