Anime[]

In the anime, his role was expanded however much of the above also applies with changes.

In a hideout by the mountains, he was joined by Lupin and Tatsu Mandala. They noticed that Jigen was late and Lupin claimed that he didn't want him as his partner. It turned out that Jigen was above them and jumped down. Lupin says that his henchmen had to follow his orders and as Jigen asked why Tatsu was there, Lupin said that he started to work for the Lupin Syndicate as of today.

When Jigen asked what happened to Fujiko, Tatsu claimed that she got away. They decided to introduce themselves with Lupin being first, then Gan-Tetsu where he jumps up in the air and plants explosives quickly around Lupin that he quickly makes them disappear as Gan-Tetsu sits down. Before showing his ability, Lupin asked "Wicked strength?" but after jumping says that he is "light on his toes". Tatsu then says his name but Lupin interrupts him says that he doesn't need to know his specialties as he was about to use his gun. He observed that Jigen mentions that one of them might be a spy and asks for a password. Lupin said co while Gan-Tetsu replied comic. He witnessed Lupin saying that if he says three then Tatsu says "Lupin the 3rd" while holding two fingers and a thumb. Jigen claimed that they were good for rookies but Lupin pressures him to say a password for "ha" and pulled out his magnum, Lupin shot the gun out of his hand. Tatsu then murdered Jigen with the machine gun. Lupin was about to say something to Tatsu however he knew that it was a spy.

As Lupin was talking to Fujiko, both Gan-Tetsu and Tatsu opened the door. He threw the corpse of "Jigen" to the floor who was actually Okosama Ranchi in disguise and witnessed Lupin giving the phone to Fujiko to release Jigen.

Lupin explains to him and Tatsu about the plan to get the gem from the corpse. The police van is going from Kamaitachi's mansion to the police station. There is going to be two points of interest with the second being a crossroad that resembles a swastika, there are two roads before the destination. Jigen claimed that it was boring searching a dead man however Lupin was willing to give it a try. No weapons will be used in the plan to prevent the police from knowing and Tatsu asks if the police find out but Lupin claimed that "there is no room for mistakes".

Both him and Tatsu jumped down the mountain, Tatsu got into his police van to drive while he ran up the hill to be on lookout. After he pulled the caution sign, Tatsu drove off. Gan-Tetsu then made it to the Mercedes Benz SSK as Lupin and Jigen jumped on to drive towards the police van. He jumped on the top, used his hammer to open the door and jumped back to the car to take over driving as Lupin and Jigen head towards the casket. He saw Jigen remove the cover, Lupin getting gem from the corpse and putting it back together. Gan-Tetsu was sweating on the wheel and worried that he wouldn't have been able to make the change over however Lupin and Jigen jumped as he drove up a road that was near the intersection.

They saw Tatsu at the middle of the road and stopped. Gan-Tetsu saw Lupin giving Tatsu the gem then threw the gem to Fujiko. As Tatsu jumped onto Fujiko's motorbike to get away, Jigen shot him in the back. He left with Lupin and Jigen as they were getting away from Koichi Zenigata, Lupin drove into the puddle to escape from the road block. Mysteriously Gan-Tetsu disappeared as Lupin and Jigen drive into the sunset.

Notes[]

  • In Japanese, his name is read as the kan-on reading rather than the kun otherwise it would be iwa.
  • The wiki adapts the translation used in the Tokyopop manga English translation, Italian translation/dubs and the Spanish Animax dub but changed to Western order. The alternative Japanese kana writing also uses Gan-Tetsu.
