Lupin III Wiki

Gallanco was a character from Lupin the 3rd Part III.

History[]

Gallanco was a mercenary who was born and raised on the battlefield believing that his sole purpose was to fight. He was friends with Daisuke Jigen and taught him how to use a gun. One hot summer they were at Dolminea fighting in a war, Gallanco was admired by the soldiers as a hero who had miraculous victories. This image impressed Jigen so much that it stuck in his mind.

Roughly eight or nine years later he was drinking in the Sanpico bar and threw the bottle onto the floor, Jigen passed him a bottle of Black & Iruka and he looked at him as Jigen knew that he was frustrated. It cheered him up and decided to play punch him as he wondered where he had been who tells him that he saw him on the news running away with his guerrillas from the army looking exhausted. He laughed and thought of pulling out with Jigen thinking that it was a chance to show him his stuff yet knew that it wasn't like him. Gallanco laughed knowing that he was right and opened the whisky bottle glad that Jigen is fine and caught up with him, he poured drinks however it got knocked over as the Army came firing rockets around the town.

In the guerrilla headquarters, Gallanco was communicating via morse code when Jigen had arrived and was happy to see him claiming that he was getting in touch with the guerrillas as they will be arriving around midnight. Jigen however was concerned lowering his hat believing that he will get his fight with the government who was taken over by General Reptol and sat on the couch. Gallanco knows that he can't stay in the retreat for much longer and as Jigen talked about the past, he got up shouting to stop it as it wasn't like him to get nostalgic then shook with his hands on the table frustrated that the guerrillas were unable to advance. There was a knock on the door and Lupin III had arrived who was worried about Jigen.

Gallanco introduced himself to Lupin and shook hands with each other, Lupin and Jigen later went to the window as they talked about the Megas treasure. He laughed and believed that the treasure was an illusion, he explains to Lupin that 400 years ago the Megas Dynasty was toppled and the treasure was gone, he also says that if Lupin asks a local they will just say that it was a legend. Lupin sat on the couch as Gallanco says that only one person believes in the treasure was General Reptol of the National Army but thinks that it was a rumor. After Lupin and Jigen left, Gallanco returned to the telegraph key to communicate. As Lupin finds out, Gallanco was talking to Reptol as he gathered his guerrillas.

After seeing the guerrillas asleep, Gallanco drove in a Jeep but stops as he saw Jigen near a rock. He wonders why he was still hanging around and Jigen wondered where he was going, Gallanco stuttered and said that he was off to the rendezvous point while Jigen thought that he was leaving it up to the government. He was surprised as Jigen knew and says that he never betrayed your comrades faith and trust in any situation. Jigen shouted as he wondered why he changed and he sighed wondering how long since he learned how to fire a gun but he got old and became exhausted. He wanted to make this his last job and to wash away the smell of gunpowder as he wanted to end his life in a different world knowing that the guerrillas cannot win the war and Reptol knew. Reptol made Gallanco an offer and was dazzled by the high reward of the Megas treasure.

He told Jigen to hurry up and leave for his own good however instead Jigen told him to kill him first as Gallanco got out of the Jeep knowing that he would refuse. Gallanco lifted his holster to reach for his gun while Jigen lifted his suit to reveal his magnum as they stood for a draw. As the sun rises, Gallanco ran to get his gun out when Jigen fired shooting his gun off his hand. Jigen found it ironic but Gallanco told him that he taught him to hit for the heart with the first shot, Jigen smirked thinking that he was out of practice and that he has to train him again while calling him Commander as he put his gun back. He wondered when one of the National Army soldiers fired from a machine gun and grabbed Jigen as they rolled down the hill with their guns out. As he saved Jigen and the Jeep exploded, he was bleeding from his stomach unable to get up from the pain. Jigen rushed and held him as he wondered whether he was okay. Reptol and his army drove towards them and Reptol laughed as he considered it to be a suitable reward for betraying his friend, he could also conquer the territory from the guerrillas as he wants the Megas treasure and thanked Gallanco for making things easier for him.

After Reptol drove off, Gallanco felt like he deserved it for betraying the guerrillas and giving in to greed. He then coughed as Jigen told him to hang on but he knows that he cannot teach him again. With his last strength, Gallanco turned his head to Jigen knowing that there is one way of beating the army and that was the lake ahead of the road that they were on however with a croak, he passed away unable to carry on. He had his eyes closed with a smile as Jigen put him to rest. Afterwards Jigen then buried Gallanco with his machine gun and bandana above the ground as he gave him his farewell.
