After Fujiko Mine stole the philosopher's stone from Lupin III, she and Flinch met up in a graveyard. Flinch grabbed Fujiko's shoulder and turned her around to face him. He inspected the stone, which was stored in a jewelry box. Then he weighed the stone in his hand. Once Mamo appeared, the reclusive bilionaire destroyed the fake stone with the transmitter inside.

Flinch took a biplane to track down Lupin, Jigen and Goemon Ishikawa XIII. He launched a bomb but they got away. Mamo suspected that this happened and told Flinch he had a better idea. He had Flinch bomb their hideout in France and set a couple of traps on the way to their one in Spain. He and Mamo then sent Fujiko out with a secret transmitter to gain Lupin's sympathy and contact her once she has sedated the thief.

Fujiko gave Lupin a much stronger drug than she anticipated and ended up knocking him out completely. She then took the stone and contacted Mamo. Flinch arrived and carried Lupin over his shoulder to the plane. Fujiko asked him not to hurt Lupin, but he grabbed her and put her in the plane with the sleeping thief. He got into the front seat and took off to Mamo's island. Jigen realized that Lupin was in trouble and fired his magnum at the plane, but he only took out a tire.

Once he was taken to the island Lupin soon escaped. He tried to recapture Lupin but failed.

He cornered Jigen, Fujiko and Goemon as they fled the island with Lupin, who had been knocked unconscious by Mamo's mind-reading probe. Goemon fights him and eventually kills him by slicing his head into pieces.

Trivia[]

  • Flinch was one of the first villains of the entire series to break Goemon's Zantetsuken as he was wearing an armored vest that he said only a laser beam could penetrate.
  • When they were in Madrid, Jigen calls Gordon Flichin in the Discotek translation thinking that Gordon was Flinch.
  • On the English TMS translation of the script, his name was originally Frenchy however the English translations and dubs chose Flinch due to the Japanese characters translating as that name. When dubbing The Mystery of Mamo, Streamline had chosen the fan translation of the characters due to fear of backlash from the fans over an "inaccurate translation"[1].
  • Although Flinch doesn't talk in other versions, the Geneon dub gives him a few lines. For example, he says "Shut up, bitch" as he shoves Fujiko into the plane with Lupin.
