Don Martino is a character of Lupin the 3rd Part 2.
History[]
Don Martino is an owner of a big ranch in Sicily and the owner of the Kentucky Derby winner "Saint Junior". According to Fujiko Mine, he is actually a crime boss that were involved in painting and jewelry thefts across Italy. It was done behind the scenes and has gathered paintings, statues and vases in his home.
He boarded on his boat along with his horse as Lupin III, Daisuke Jigen, Goemon Ishikawa XIII and Fujiko were scouting in Venice. Lupin reveals that he is planning to transport the paintings and the jewelry on The Trans-European Super Express from Venice to Paris due to that the Italian police had figured out that he is a crime boss. The items are going to be exchanged for money. The Don however officially mentioned that he was off to France with Saint Junior so he could participate in the Arc de Triumphe trophy race.
The Don, his jockey and Saint Junior boarded on the train and as the jockey and the horse get into their box, the Don opened up a chest and found a red box. He opened with delight as he sees the jewels in there then put it back and walked towards his private carriage to sit down.
Fujiko in disguise managed to get into the private carriage and mentioned that she met him at a party in Rome and she claimed that he flirted with too many women to forget. He offered her a drink and she wants to see Saint Junior but the jockey claimed that he is shy and gets uncomfortable looking at a beautiful woman, he slapped Fujiko to the floor and knows that she lied since he never left Sicily.
The Don asked who Fujiko was working with and the jockey was about to slap her until Koichi Zenigata knocked on the door and introduced himself as he wanted to know "who is it". Zenigata asked the Don whether he knows where Lupin is on the train. The Don however doesn't know anything about Lupin as Zenigata managed to free Fujiko as they walked away. He was annoyed by what happened unaware that it was Lupin in disguise.
His henchmen noticed that the carriage where Saint Junior was had disappeared and the Don was confused as he opened the door and sees the back of a truck locking on. Lupin got towards the roof and told the Don to "get off here", he asked who he was and he replied Lupin the Third and told the Don to remember his name in the future. Then he wondered and Lupin claimed that he is the greatest thief of the century and to take his collection. Outraged, the Don ordered his henchmen to fire as Lupin ran away with Fujiko.
They were worried that if they don't do something, Lupin and his gang would take them to where ever they like and the Don advised them is to move to the last carriage. After moving, he tells them that the carriage can run on its own and activates the switch to split them up. Lupin managed to jump towards the car and smashed through the window, he quickly hide behind a box and the Don ordered his henchmen to fire. Lupin by accident shot at the controls and the brake got hit causing it to keep going as another train is on the way. The Don screamed seeing the other train and went towards the jewels as he grabbed them in delight while his henchmen are concerned. He was too loved up with the jewels and didn't want anyone else to take them causing his henchmen and his jockey to leave. Lupin called him pathetic.
As Lupin stole Saint Junior and jumped to safety, the Don was still attracted to the jewels and the carriage fell into the river. Lupin felt sorry for him as the Don turned insane and decided to only steal a small amount of treasure.

- In the Japanese original, Jigen calls him closer to Don Martino while Lupin calls him closer to Don Marchino.
- The English dub claims that he has a simple country love of horses. No other version mentions this.
- Also in the English dub, he says to his henchmen while sitting down that "I'm so hungry that I could eat a damn horse" and wanting someone to get him a meal. This is an addition since the English dub is known for adding extra lines to the script that are not in any other version.
