Detective Melon is a character from New Lupin III (Manga). As well as making an appearance on the 4-koma comedy manga Lupiman from the official lupin magazine and lupin-tic from the same magazine

He was originally hired to replace Inspector Zenigata. However, Melon Cop and Zenigata are working as partners, and are in constant competition with each other over who will catch Lupin.

Personality[]

Melon Cop can best be described as a more ruthless, cop version of Lupin. He would, as Lupin himself puts it, "Kill a poor kid in the middle of confession." He's calm, collected and efficient, in contrast to the hot-headed Zenigata. According to his file, he's taciturn and highly perceptive.

He often goes behind Zenigata's back to catch Lupin and admits it in a later chapter.

Notes[]

  • According to his file, his birthday is May 12th however his birth year is unknown as it is listed as 19XX. Melon Ganimard shares the same birthday.
  • While he has not appeared in the anime as himself, a picture done in the Lupin the 3rd Part 2 style did appear on a sticker that was a gift when bought with Furuya Sugar Free Bubble Gum. It was also his only known appearance in color.
  • For Part 2 Episode, 28, he was replaced with Melon Ganimard, who is not only the granddaughter of Justin Ganimard, but also basically either a gender-swapped version of himself or a combination of him and a cop version of Fujiko from the manga.
