Lupin III Wiki

Count Philippe de Monbassant was a character from Lupin the Third Part 5.

Character History[]

Monbassant had built the security systems industry in France within a generation, his business was set to go global as he received press coverage including the TAF Journal. His wife was Countess Isabelle Monbassant and his nephew was Allan Dubois. His dream was to create a security system so strong that not even Lupin III could circumvent and kept a scrapbook based on his adventures from Lupin the Third Part I however it was said by the Countess that it was when Lupin was in the news and kept clippings from newspapers, he genuinely became a fan of Lupin.

In the past, Frédéric Hautrette had pressured him to sell his emerald ring however he refused. His nephew had problems since his father had problems regarding a business however the Count refused to help causing his brother in law to commit suicide and the family fell apart making him penniless. Allan had a grudge against the Count regarding what happened. Pierre Schmidt ran his own company that developed security systems technology however the company was bought out by the Count and he was made redundant, he then became an alcoholic and a computer repairer.

Three years ago while jogging in a park in Paris, someone took a gun and he was shot. At the time, the murderer was unknown as the police was unable to find the culprit and it became a cold case. His wife who became a widow narrowed it down to three suspects; Frédéric Hautrette, Allan Dubois and Pierre Schmidt but thanks to detective work from Lupin, it turned out to be Allan Dubois' Brother who had murdered him while his twin brother came up with the plan and fled to Sicily.

Notes[]

  • His name was based on the French author Guy de Maupassant however it is not a direct translation as his name is モーパッサン in Japanese rather than モンバッサン.
