Camilla is a character from Lupin the Third Part II.
Character history[]
Camilla was a vampire who wanted to revive the vampire family and to rule the world as revenge for her brother and her mother. She can also play the piano.
Two thousand years ago in a stable in Bethlehem, Mary gave birth to twins who were Camilla and Jesus Christ, but Camilla was a vampire. Her father Joseph abandoned her in a cave. She was looked after by a wolf. Years later on a stagecoach, Camilla had stolen the golden statue of Mary from a church in Bethlehem cherished by her brother. She fled across by ocean to Japan at the Heburai Village where she built a casket for hibernation and she started to sleep while holding the statue. According to Camilla, Christ had followed her to Heburai Village and died.
Dr. Marukido and his archaeology team had dug up the casket. One of his reporters had found out by radiocarbon dating and revealed to be around 2000 years old. Dr. Marukido was found it one of the most mysterious findings in the history of archaeology. As they opened the casket, they found the statue to be glowing and considered her to be a "sleeping beauty". When they did tests, they found the pulse and the heart rate to be one of a human being. Dr. Marukido believed she was in suspended animation, which to him was unbelievable. Koichi Zenigata then decided to take the casket to the National Tokyo hospital as he knew that Lupin III would be after the statue. He had Dr. Marukido put the statue in his research center.
Camilla escaped from the hospital while being tested on. She got back into the casket and rode down the road in it at the back of a stagecoach. On the way back, she ran into Lupin III, who had stolen her statue.
Lupin had took her to a drunk doctor who found her pulse to be normal but to have a poor complexion. He diagnosed her with anemia to a skeptical Lupin. The doctor found two red "spots" on her neck, which were bite marks, but dismissed them as hickeys. While Lupin dozed by her bedside, Camilla escaped. Lupin searched for "Camilla-chan" through the graveyard when she got his attention, seduced him then bit his neck.
Camilla and Lupin went to a castle that was surrounded by a lake at Mt. Onihime. To prove his loyalty, Lupin had kidnapped Fujiko. Inquisitively, he asked her what he going to do next. Camilla informed Lupin that Fujiko will be made as a sacrifice and after 2000 years in silence that they will hold a ball at midnight for the vampires. She told Lupin to get ready for the event.
She then put Fujiko on a stone, handcuffed and gagged. While announcing the ball through music to the other vampires, she then explained her backstory to Lupin.
Afterwards she ordered the vampire crowd to rejoice over their sacrifice of Fujiko and dance until dawn. She expressed her belief that the vampires are to be the shining star in the darkness. She wanted to conquer the world and achieve their final victory as well as her revenge on Christ and Mary. At the ball, while Jigen and Goemon met with Lupin, Camilla found out that Lupin was only pretending to be a vampire, as his reflection in the mirror appeared. Camilla admonished Lupin for his foolish mistake. Goemon freed Fujiko and Camilla sicced the vampires on them. Jigen and Lupin tried to shoot the vampires while Goemon tried to use the Zantetsuken on Camilla with no effect.
Lupin, Jigen, Goemon and Fujiko dashed out of the window while Camilla and the vampires pursued them. As their were at the edge of a cliff, Jigen threw garlic at Camilla, but she dodged. Goemon, using the Zantetsuken made himself a cross and threw it to her cape, then a lightning bolt shocked the cross causing Camilla and the vampires to burn away into dust.
Notes[]
- Due to the religious connection, in the Italian dub the connection between Camilla and her family was downplayed.
- In the English dub, Lupin doesn't learn her name until he infiltrates the castle. The French dub does the same.
