Becky Lambert is a character from Stolen Lupin - The Copy Cat is a Midsummer's Butterfly.
Biography[]
Becky is a thrill seeking thief and is noted for having a tattoo of a butterfly on her arm. Her first theft was a series of paintings and according to Koichi Zenigata, they were the same methods that Lupin III used 17-18 years ago and thought to be a copycat thief.
One of her character quirks is pulling her tongue out at people whether it is for profile pictures or on her drawings as a calling card. She lives in a boat down by the river.
Her mother Catherine stole the Bulls Eye that she was going to unlock the mystery of the stone however she was killed by Interpol chief Brian Murphy. Lupin who was her partner during one hot summer mentions that she had the same tattoo, they were nicknamed "The Black and Silver Thieves". After the death of her mother, Becky wanted to avenge her death by stealing the Bulls Eye. Lumberjack looked after her since the passing of Catherine and the disappearance of her father.
Unlike many women that Lupin deals with, he has no affection towards Becky but rather looks after her as a role model such as giving her advice. The idea of being attracted to her angers him, unusual considering his personality. In a bar conversation with Daisuke Jigen, Lupin considers her a fine Parisienne however he calls her a troublesome Parisienne in front of Lumberjack. Both Zenigata and Fujiko call Becky a "wench".
Character History[]
In Paris, Becky throws a smoke grenade at someone and steals a truck that contains the Bourbon Family treasure. This catches the attention of Zenigata who thinks it's Lupin and chases after her in the streets of Paris. She uses her laptop and a map is displayed of the surrounding police, it also shows a hiding spot that she drives to and jumps off the ramp.
Afterwards she drives onto an Autoroute with Zenigata still chasing after her, he managed to jump onto the truck as it slowed down. It surprised him and thought that she was Fujiko Mine at first but she called him "tottsan" (Pops in English, Paparino in Italian), a nickname that Lupin uses and wondered how she knew that. Thinking that she was Lupin's new partner, he stays on while she tries to shake him off.
Lupin manages to get on the truck while Zenigata gets off and Jigen fired the rockets towards the road creating a gap so the truck is trapped. Becky jumped out of the truck as a Lupin balloon is attracted and flies off with the contents falling out, she then used her twin grappling hooks to get to safety.
While Lupin is driving safely in his Alfa Romeo 2300 Touring 1932, Becky in a gyrocopter stole the Bulls Eye from him with a craw and flew away. It is revealed that Becky stole the prototype from Lumberjack and replaced with a balloon while he wasn't looking.
She went into a casino and won a large amount of chips but Lupin offers her a drink and after refusing to tell him about the Bulls Eye, she gave a man next to her the winning amount and left the building. Becky also told Lupin that she wanted a race against the best thief in the world after putting the gem into the casino safe that she paid for the deposit and dared him to rob the safe. As Lupin looks at her, he thinks that he was looking at Catherine briefly. While Lupin wanted to tell her something, she went off and used her grabbing hooks towards the roof.
Afterwards she went into a room and gone on the laptop while Lupin was running up the stairs, she also cut the power in the hotel and went into the safe room while wearing night vision goggles. As she was about to get the safe, she was caught by Zenigata who had his torch on and tries to run away while fighting him. She was caught by Zenigata but Lupin was on top of the safe. Lupin claims that Becky is his most important partner while she argues that he is only after the Bulls Eye, he advises her that "Being a loud mouth is a taboo for thieves" while putting his finger on his lips. After Lupin escaped as Goemon helped removing the safe, he also managed to free Becky's handcuffs from Zenigata.
Lupin went to her home but she mentioned that he was rude because he didn't knock and she didn't invite him. As she was eating her meal and refused to give any to Lupin, he asked her about the Bulls Eye and told her that lying is the first step of being a thief. He also knew that the one in the safe was a well made fake and wanted the real one. She refused and he explained that anyone who steals the Bulls Eye gets killed.
After talking about the stone and how Lupin knew Becky was Catherine's daughter, she lifted the plate up with Lupin having omelette on his face and stole his Walther P38. She was going to fire his gun and ordered him to leave but Lupin explains to her about the stone and he didn't want her having the same fate. Becky hoped by keeping the Bulls Eye that the person who killed her mother would return, Lupin told her that he didn't kill her and gave her advice on how to handle a weapon. He then got his gun back and pointed towards Becky who then gave him the stone. Lupin wanted her dead and fired the P38 but a French flag came out, winked and told her to forget about avenging.
As Becky and Lumberjack were talking, someone fired a shot at Lumberjack but Lupin got to the scrap yard. Despite Lupin warning her not to, Becky pursues the gunman on her motorbike and drives towards the metro. Hiding a pillar and getting out her Walther P38, she looks for him but he was hanging upside down and shooting at her. She then uses her grappling hooks and kicks him, she tries to kick him again but he grabs her and throws her towards the line. He grabbed her face hoping to kill Becky but Lupin saves her on a motorbike.
On a riverboat, Lupin tells Becky that Lumberjack is alive and she hugs him with delight. When they move towards a bridge, he tells her to not be reckless but she says that he'll come to rescue her. As Lupin tells her that he is not his "babysitter", she asks him to be his partner due to the partnership that he had with her mother. He tells her about the past and trusted her than he does with Fujiko but tells her to grow up first. Lupin was telling Becky about betrayal being a women's right while Fujiko who was on a boat thought that the two were dating. Due to Lupin being attracted to Fujiko, Becky slaps him and he falls down hoping to reach Fujiko but fails and ends up in the water. She calls him a "scumbag".
While walking down the street and looking at a shop window with a handbag inside, Becky was suddenly shot yet the target missed and ran down in a panic. By an alleyway, she bumped into a swordsman who was ready to attack however she was saved by Goemon Ishikawa XIII. As Goemon and the swordsman fight, the latter ends up exhausted but Becky puts her gun to his head.
She goes all the way to Joseph Malkovich's office with the swordsman however when she wasn't looking, he grabbed and put her to the floor while her gun was dropped. Becky asked Malkovich whether he killed her mother, he didn't say and fired a sleeping dart at Becky. He put her at the back of his car and took her to Mosquito Village.
Malkovich shows Lupin the back of his car with Becky however she was awake now wearing a necklace. It was planted along with Fujiko's to set off an explosion. Becky says sorry to Lupin as she pointed the gun at him, he give her the advice of being gentle before firing and she fired. Lupin walked towards her knowing something was wrong as she stood there while Malkovich was having a smoke. She fired again, apologizing to him and her mother but this time she shot Lupin.
Becky took Murphy to Lupin's hideout who went crazy over the Lupin Collection. He revealed to her that he finds the idea of a thief having justice is stupid, he killed her mother and wanted the same for her as he was holding the controls for the explosives. As Murphy ran out, Lupin was alive and turned out that the Walther P38 had no ammo. She only had a prop gun that was not for shooting. Murphy tried to blow her up but Fujiko hacked into Malkovich's computer and disabled the launch.
Outside Mosquito Village, Becky becomes worried since Lupin mentioned that her mother would be satisfied in heaven but she wishes to be Lupin's partner. He tells her to grow up more but she interrupts by saying that the Lupin Collection is Jigen, Goemon and Fujiko yet she knows that she isn't part of the collection. They both say Sayonara to each other and wave goodbye as she stays with Lumberjack.
