Lupin III Wiki

Angelica was a character from Lupin the Third Part II and was one of Jigen's romances.

Character history[]

Angelica came from a noble Italian family. One winter day Angelica, was in Venice and met Daisuke Jigen, who back then was still a hitman. He had a cold, which concerned her. He was on the run, and stole her Rolls Royce to make a getaway. Unfortunately, he crashed it.

Jigen and Angelica developed a relationship, although he was afraid to share details with his friends. While on a date, Angelica suggested to Jigen that they marry, but he got cold feet and left her. She then became a nun and worked at the Othello Hospital in the African country of Borodias.

Eight years after, she sent Jigen a letter asking for his help to rescue Dr. Othello and it arrived to him via a badly injured carrier pigeon. The President of the United States gave the letter to Jigen. He and his friends went to Borodias.

Angelica greeted Jigen at a mass grave. They were both happy to see each other. Jigen told her that he kept his word and he arrived like he said.

At the hospital, Angelica and Dr. Othello were looking after patients. Othello said he wanted to fight for independence but didn't want to leave the hospital. Angelica told him she'd look after the patients, and she had Jigen for protection. After much persuasion from both her and the patients, Othello gave her a golden rosary.

As the National Army started to bomb the hospital, Angelica wanted to evacuate the hospital, but Jigen stopped her, saying it was too dangerous. The brave nun assured him she wasn't afraid to die, but before she could evacuate the patients, the door of the hospital blew off from a nearby explosion and they hid together in the basement, where Dr. Othello's lab was.

Jigen discovered Othello's secret tanning room. The hospital building was destroyed, but he and Angelica both survived. Angelica saw corpses of patients in the rubble and ran straight into it, not heeding Jigen's warnings. The gunslinger's fear soon came true: Angelica accidentally stepped on a bomb and was mortally wounded.

Jigen ran to Angelica and held her in his arms. With her last words, she told Jigen why she became a nun and passed away. Jigen, in tears, cradled her body, bereaved over the death of a good woman. He carried her body to Lupin and Goemon, telling them that he and Angelica had walked into a trap, then took her rosary.

Afterwards, she was buried and Jigen attended to her grave, and laid flowers at it.
